Disclaimers fatigue. Let's shoot for more authenticity. People can take it.
Trump is really awkward, imho. And it helped. Everybody knows someone awkward, a bit like that. He also doesn't need to fit in, on contrary. Not fitting in made him stand out. If he listened to style coaches, he would be slick and disliked. I think he actually picked his tan himself. And probably doesn't have a style coach. Puts him in contrast with his daughter's business and the American overbearing focus on apprearance and impression.

Maybe for a black man to be electable he still needs to act whiter than white. A black man who talks and acts like a stereotypical black man probably wouldn't get elected. Even if he said exactly the same as Obama said, it's not just what you say but how you say it.
So basically Obama being elected was not a proof that racism is overcome, but a proof that it still exists.

Plus people vote for a token representant, thinking things will improve and solid authenticity somehow appears.
I understand how non token Trump irks millions of people, but also question whether he really does or they think they must be irked (for the reasons the campaigners are pretty aggressively vocal about).

Sorry , I really can't see your statement about Trump being awkward and authentic. He is obviously groomed ,styled and perhaps medicated to look like he does. All , of course chosen by him, as you say, but he has been a public presence in NYC for decades, and in such an an offensive way.
As an ex New Yorker, I remember him (in the 90's) buying a page in the NY Times to rail against 7 black teens who were accused for the rape of a jogger. He fanned the flames 'till they got railroaded and spent 17 years in jail until getting exhonerated a couple of years ago, after the guilty party confessed.
He is a huge attention whore, and will do nothing for his so called constituency. " Sad...."

I still remember my mums reaction to America's first Black president: ''He's not even really black is he?''

Seriously. He went through the mid-West, touting his grandmother, and calling them "my people".
Clinton was really our first black president.
After that, no wonder Americans said, "WTF, to hell with it.", and southerners voted for the New Yorker redneck.
Progress!?

There is a conceptual gap. I think its just a matter of time before people come to some grips with what is going on.
A lot of people are simply at a loss as to how to move forward. Trump effectively debunks a narrative they have been building up since the 1960s. Without it, they don't know what else to do other than scream pathetic epithets at him and his supporters. Its the only thing they have, and is a form of denial.
I think if a saner and more palpable liberal platform was to come out of this, I would certainly keep an open mind to it. But as for those whose polemics still exhibit fascist tendencies of shutting down communication, no quarters!
In due course of time, acceptance comes after denial. I'm already starting to see it from some liberal thought leaders in the US.

I think almost all fashion trends, long term or short, can be questioned if one doesn't see the 'art' and 'style' in them.
Collared shirts?
Ties or Bow-ties?
Scarves?
Skinny Jeans?
Jeans with those elastics around the ankles?
Excessive zippers, buttons and bolts?
fake pockets?
I do acknowledge that I have zero fashion sense or style, but if we are going to start questioning trends, pandora's box is totally open.

It isn't the clothes per se, it is how you carry them. I know people who wear a boiler suit with more style than some people a tailored suit. | | | | | There's another Kim fellow I've heard about on the wireless who apparently has strange tastes when it comes to his haircut, and also bloodthirsty ways to punish people who don't live up to his expectations.
Must be in the family. These Kims are a strange bunch.

Well, judging from some reactions - you should run for a president, then. It seems to make people stick out and cash it in!
(Btw, no style is the new style)
