To the original posting. I just introduce myself as a non Trump supporter that finds Trump repulsive. That usually takes care of any Trump tirades, quickly.
I have lived in Europe 30 years now and had to defend myself against anti-american vitriol, more often than I care to say... I just quickly agree..but amazingly some people did not believe that I was anti-war and very liberal. SIGH, but here in the Uk a quick Anti Trump remark works. switzerland , not always as many think as he. Sadly.

25th Amendment, Section 4 https://youtu.be/Gnnj_YjdJgs | | | | | Thanks for that. I didn't like the tone in which is was presented in but it sure was interesting. So Thursday we restart "who will be the next US president" or do week-ends not count in the 4-day-rule? | Quote: | | | | | To the original posting. And people stopped buying into the dogma that is supposed to be the "Left". It seems that the theory on Left vs Right is oudated. | | | | | I've always believed that the U.S. version of left wing is nothing like their European counterparts. I'm LibDem, which in U.K. perspective is the party of the centre, but looking to the run ups to the Presidential Election, the closest belief system that I heard to my own came from Bernie Sanders.
I've always seen the Democrats as midway between LibDem and Conservative in the UK, and mainstream left wing European parties don't have a parallel in the U.S. I can't help but wonder what the first 100 days of a Sanders administration would have looked like.

Repeat over and over that the people that support Trump are just a bunch of morons. That they’re just fools who live in a fact-free world who were simply conned by Trumps simple words. While you’re at it tell them that they are being ridiculous and that they have no legitimate grievances and the fact that they feel forgotten and left out of modern America is just irrational.
Maybe Trump was just conning them and never actually cared about these folks at all. Maybe.
Yet wouldn’t that still be better to them than all the other politicians who stopped bothering to even pretend that they care anymore?

@ Kriss Kross, yup mostly morons with a right wing political agenda or just very deceived individuals.

It sounds like you are willing to give Trump the benefit of the doubt. I hope he lives up to your expectations. I hope he learns from his mistakes. At the same time, it is only fair to also listen to the many people who voted for him and have been disappointed already.
Glad you were not affected by his policies.
Not sure why you brought up the “but others were worse than Trump”- argument, since it has been debated to death. We`d have to agree to disagree on the fact that other politicians "stopped pretending to care".
Additionally, caring about people alone is hardly sufficient to run a country. Someone with so little experience in politics like Trump, could at least pretend to care about intelligence briefing for example. But again we have to agree to disagree. | Quote: | | | | | Keep telling yourself that Laurie.

I can't believe people still bother to discuss things like this (I was going to say debate, but that's overrating things a bit). Nobody in the history of the world has changed their opinion because of political discussions on e Internet, and Trump / Hilary supporters are rather more committed to their side than most.
Just let it be. Your side either won or lost, and while some people here will enjoy talking about it, nobody in Europe is going to burn you at the stake for it. That's really more of an American tradition.
