What has religion got to do with democracy or a republic?
It's known as 'clutching at straws'

Well, it should be nothing, obviously, but he used his first Christian prayer Thursday to be anything but Christian, and rather a shallow "let's pray for a reality TV show" thing, which was a bit revealing.

What? So the whole swearing on the bible at inauguration and "so help me god" bollox is just lip service and show? I'm not sure the rest of America will agree with you on that one...

He does't clutch - he grabs.

And they're not straws.

Really??? I'm shocked!

I thought that they really believed that god would be helping and guiding them in their every move while they are president.

Who knew..?

If the story from his personal physician about him taking prostate drugs to encourage hair growth on his head is true then grabbing is probably the total extent of his capabilities.

No wonder he is whining

Don't get me wrong - I am all in favour of separation of State and Religion - but then lets be consistent, and stop the vast hypocrisy - in respect of real Christians too. So Trump's request for freedom of religious groups to be associated with politics and fundraising, etc, will of course apply to Muslims and all faiths, yes?

You're asking the wrong person, sorry, but...

For me, the world can have as many religions as it wants, people can eat little crackers and drink wine once a week in church or paint their feet purple and stick a feather up their arse if it makes them feel closer to whatever sky monkey they choose but it should have absolutely nothing to do with important stuff in life like governing countries.

The important thing is that people should be allowed to do all of these things in freedom and safety but not in such a way that they make their god out too be any better than anyone else's god, nor think that the rules set down by any such religion are better than another.

Simple really. Govern a country and keep religion out of it.

Man has been playing "my imaginary friend is better than your's" since man invented stories to explain the stuff they didn't understand.

FYI Richard only had a normal human heart - there is not evidence he has a second feline one

How's that work with your PMs - maybe you can show us how it's done first?
To be fair we don't select our PMs, the party does.

Alas, them Scots are a nasty breed.

That said, I hear that she was known as Lassie.

That would explain the hairdo.

Tom
Lassie (the TV star) was much more attractive and not flammable.

But seriously, can you not hop on one of your many motorcycles, ride through some gorgeous scenery and just be glad you're not elsewhere? You can be smug rather than dismayed!

You see we have a much better system; Trump would never have been selected by the Republican party
