Re: Prime ministerís letter will be hand-delivered to European council

No, they'll send it by diplomatic courier on a normal flight. And then our EU ambassador delivers it.

This happens every day; it may get a bit of special care under the circumstances, but I can't see why it wouldn't be in with all the other diplomatic stuff going back and forth.

What alternative would you suggest?

Email the letter.
Unfortunately there isn't an internationally agreed mechanism for electronic signing, so that wouldn't fulfil the requirements of Article 50.

And the UK act authorises the Prime Minister to do the notification - so I guess the ambassador couldn't just sign it.

It's just a formality, but look at what's happened so far - if not done properly, someone in the UK or EU would no doubt try a court case to get themselves some publicity, sorry I mean protect our rights.

Don't diplomats have a well-founded reputation for leaving classified and sensitive documents, laptops and files behind on public transport?

Well "Bugger off. Love Tess" hardly counts as classified or sensitive in my book.

Chin up mate. Look on the bright side - you're here with your family, a good job, and a C permit.

It's quite an important one in my book. The type of important that you don't send some dude on a train and let some ambassador do the work... it's the type of job you should do yourself as prime minister - unless you are scared that this might be the one photo of you that'll make it into the history books.

It all went downhill after the English moved the Eurostar arrival station from Waterloo. There's nothing like greeting visitors from France with a huge sign emblazoned with the name of one of the UK's most memorable defeats of France.

The UK: the United Kingdom of Great Britain, as it was known then. With a few Prussian manservants to carry the orange slices at half-time, the United Kingdom forces, led by the Duke of Wellington, defeated the French army of Napoleon Bonaparte, while all were enjoying an early summer holiday in the Low Countries.

Kids these days -- no concept of history...

So, is today (Nigel Farage's) Independence Day?
The day we got out country back?
Or is that in 2 years time?
