That's hardly stopped you before!

Here's a link to wiki's page on Islamist terrorist attacks worldwide - including Manchester's - see if you can find an excuse for all of them (over 20,000 dead and counting)
East Ukraine Deaths ca. 10,000
Syrian deaths ca. third million.
Mexican Drug war ca. 100,000
South Sudanese Civil War ca. 50,000

Who can explain any of them?

Re: Explosion at Manchester Arena

Last night my niece and her five friends, who were at the Ariana Grande concert, and were deeply affected by the events, went to the concert at Old Trafford cricket ground. We watched it live on TV, to be with her, and what a concert!
Every one of the artists gave it their all, Ariane was amazing, she helped to heal a lot of hearts last night.
My sister said my niece seemed back to her normal self, she now has some great memories of her favourite star to look back on, not just horror and sadness.

My nephew went along with his friends too. He missed the concert first time around due to a last minute change but went with them this time and he said it was amazing.
The family who put the boys up for the night after they were stranded in Manchester also went to the concert with them.

So glad to read this. It's what it's all about.

An old friend, whose family were integral to the Manchester music scene of the 90's, went to the gig with his daughter and described it as "The best show on Earth". High praise indeed from a lad whose life has been in the industry, and not this genre. I fully expected Ariana to just do a few songs at the end of the night, but she great, and to finish with Liam... Well one old quote from his brother...

" He's rude, arrogant, intimidating and lazy. He's the angriest man you'll ever meet. He's like a man with a fork in a world of soup."

...and a Twitter quote from today...

"Nothing says 'f*** you, ISIS' quite like a snarling Manc with an orange cagoule and maracas. "

Actually, Liam wasn't the last artist to sing.
Ariana came back and sang one of her songs, and then a beautiful rendition of "Somewhere over the rainbow"
A fitting end to an amazing evening.

Meanwhile on a planet in a far away galaxy "Iran's parliament and Khomeini mausoleum attacked by gunmen. Attackers have opened fire at the Iranian parliament and Ayatollah Khomeini's mausoleum in the capital, Tehran, causing a number of casualties.
The so-called Islamic State group (IS) has claimed it carried out the attacks."

Clearly Iran has taken in too many refugees

Looks like the death toll may have gone up. The police have found a body in the River Thames that may be one of the missing.

Shouldn't this be on the London Bridge thread?

Probably so:

Now if only there were some common link which connected each of these acts of terrorism, maybe we could begin to understand the cause.

Wot, the Thames doesn't flow through Manchester?

It must be further north than I thought.

The spectre of radical imams in radical mosques is a tabloid myth. The situation today is near zero tolerance in both mosques and amongst attendees, and that is pretty well self policed. The mosque committees are usually run by retired Muslims who don't want the aggro or any risk of being shut down, so they simply don't allow any trouble makers or controversial imams to preach there.

Even jihadis moan that the mosques are full of spooks/informants so the last place you want to plan anything is at a mosque, they are far safer conducting their war councils at a local KFC.
Quote:
Away from the election, many of the papers continue to feature reports on the London Bridge attacks. The Daily Telegraph focuses on a KFC restaurant in Barking where one of the attackers - Khuram Butt - worked as an office manager.
The paper says another - Youseff Zagbha - is believed to have been employed there at the same time - while the third - Rachid Redouane - was a regular customer.
The Telegraph speculates that the attack may have been plotted there, and predicts the restaurant will now become a key feature of the police investigation.
