I'm curious. What is the behavior (outside of the gaming world) gender that looks like a duck looking backwards?
I've no idea, but the infographics on this are fantastic.

Well, for the Necron, I think it involves taking the skin off your partner and wearing it.
Thanks, I now have a new name for my ex.

Somebody had a window seat when Venn diagrams and/or the meaning of "All" was taught.

But their eye for colour and symmetry is well developed.

Got to feel sorry for proper gay rights activists. All this gender hoo-ha really does undermine their work.

Um.

There are two possibilities, biologically speaking, for gender.

Everything *else* is a social / political construct.
That's sex. Biologically there are two sexes (and an interesting mixed bag of genetic errors leading to intersex conditions)

Gender, on the other hand, is a social construct. This new wave of gender constructivists is getting a bit silly though, especially with neopronous.

For me, the hilarious thing is that for a lot of these newly-minted genders to work within their own logic, one must accept implicitly the stereotypes applied to masculine/feminine. Thus, and I kid you not, you'll someone calling themselves a "genderqueer demi-girl" because they like nail polish but also like work boots.

When you start adding in new sexualities and other fun, the terminology gets truly mindboggling. Not wanting labels has become wanting hyper-specific labels for everything, and not being inclusive of everyone is deeply problematic.

The good news is that 90% of these transtrenders will finish puberty and find a better way to distinguish themselves than playing for oppression points on Tumblr.

Here's some lunacy from Canada for you. Genderless baby ID.

I'd say going to school would suck, but a) left coast, b) undoubtedly the parent will homeschool or send the poor kid to a seedeating hugfest.

Dollars for donuts that kid's not growing up to be a hockey player.

With a name like that there's a good chance that ice time will make them tough as nails. The_Parent_Incorrectly_Referred_To_As_Mommy probably won't like that, or the crowd shouting "Check him Seary!"

I had a hard enough time being known to play the violin and wear a kilt.

Violin in a kilt? That's sacrilege. Fiddle in a kilt (with workboots)? NS yoot uniform.

Now a little downhome genderbending gay fiddling from the one and only Ashley MacIssac!

Re: Is gender a spectrum?

Don't be daft, gender is male and female.

No ifs ands or buts.

Everything else is societal decay.

Re: Is gender a spectrum?

Aren't three categories enough?
Sex - male, female, other (intersex etc.)
Gender - male, female, other (gender fluid, agender etc.)
Sexuality - homo, hetero, other (bisexual, agender to trans-male etc.)

Do we really need a category that in reality only holds five people? So long as there's mutual tolerance and respect, what does it matter? While I'm all for respecting and even to an extent protecting minorities, I don't hold with minorities dictating to the majority, some minorities do seem to be rather arbitrary (made up).

So, no not a spectrum.

Lots of very long-lived societies have more than two gender expressions.

Trans- anything isn't a sexuality, it's a gender expression.

The real whackos are the ones claiming that biology isn't real, and that your sex is what you believe.

I'm all for people expressing themselves as they want, but realz>feelz when it comes to biology. Sex has 3 options- XX, XY, error.

basically there are two genders, basically there are two sexes.

Technically there is a range for both as well.
