But, you know, I don't think the folk we have in our relatively moderate debates are particularly racist or xenaphobic. Perhaps a little hysterical or over-reacting to something over which they have no control - much like media and government responses. Me, I'd probably get accused of being too laissez faire. People die. Terrorism is just another was to accomplish that. It's not nice, but it's just a way of life. Meh. Get over it.
I can't say either position is right or wrong. Somewhere in the middle, a cautious pragmatism maybe, is probably the right way in the long run. Tarring a billion people with one brush, not so much. | | | | | Liar....everybody has an opinion. On everything. | | | | | I'm not sure what you mean. I agree, everybody has an opinion. That's mine.

| | Re: Barcelona: Van rams into crowd | Quote: | | | | | "Back home" being Romania? | | | | | Yes.
Why?
Somebody mentioned the refugees wouldn't go there because we are razists and not tolerant and undemocratical.
We are. Don't go there, I warn you.
Btw, since all the routes have been closed, apparently Black Sea is the only one left, so we expect lots and lots of people trying to cross Romania in their search for a better life. Except they won't be allowed to march through it as they did through the other Balkan states. We are razists, I warned you.

Why? | | | | | Because you're profile isn't complete, but I remembered we've discussed Roma in the past.

Securing EU borders is a dear and well loved subject for Macron, Merkel and quite a few other EU leaders. They never hesitate to point a finger if a few refugees cross some borders illegally, while at the same time are welcoming everybody and his aunt. `
What is France doing with Calais immigrants? Btw.

Just curious...

We've been living with this shit since the early seventies.
I don't think it would make much difference who the perpetrators were at this point.

It's always talked about letting the Islamic community sort out their own issues yet clearly they are incapable of doing so.

I feel a little bit guilty now. Everybody knew it. It was an open secret. But I can't say it because these people are dangerous and they could come after me. I don't trust anybody now." | | | | | From wiki | Quote: | | | | Moussa Oukabir was 18 at the time of the attack.[60][61]. He was shot and killed by police after the Cambrils attack.[62]
The Fiat Talento van used the in La Rambla attack had been rented using the ID of Oukabir's brother[63] who told police that Moussa Oukabir had stolen his ID.[11] Moussa Oukabir had been living legally in Spain since 2005.[64] In 2014 and 2015, he played futsal (a form of indoor football) for the local Ripoll youth team.[65] In 2015, when asked on the social media website Kiwi what he would do in his first day as king of the world, he responded, "Kill the infidels and only spare Muslims who follow the religion."[66][67] | | | | | Ultimately the problem is too many coming in/too easy to stay and not easy enough to ship back/remove citzenship and means to come.

How many times did you see some stranger, let alone a friend, do something illegal? How many did you report to the police?

I've seen suspicious behaviour a couple of times in Switzerland. On the first occassion, I was standing outside the police station ready to report it, but didn't go inside, because I'd only been in the country a month and didn't want to bring myself to the attention of the police. Almost 2yrs later, I still regret that.
