Pizza restaurant in Adelaide upsets customers

Is this really the best business idea for a restaurant?

An Australian restaurant has drawn controversy for hanging a taxidermied cow from its ceiling to raise debate about eating animals. The dairy cow has been strung up by its hind legs over dining tables at Etica restaurant in Adelaide. The confronting installation has sparked a backlash online, where it has been dubbed "obscene" and "disgusting". The owners of the pizza restaurant say the display makes diners think about "the realities" of consuming meat, - but it isn't a vegan, nor a vegetarian restaurant!

It's a bit stupid, I don't think it would boost business. It's a good debate to have but a totally stupid way of starting it.

the cow had to give its life in order to hang in a pizza restaurant.
that's not exactly respect for an animal.

What is the difference to a stuffed boar in a corner or a stag head on the wall?

Is it because it is a cow? Because it is the whole animal (whose meat was eaten btw)? Because it hangs over the table an not on the wall or stands on the ground?

Honestly, in the end all the same thing a killed animal serves some decoration purposes. It is just the presentation which is a bit difference. Hypocrites supporting one but condemning the other.

I understood it more that the animal had been completely used for its meat and the bit that was left was stuffed and used as a decoration.

After the eight-year-old Friesian-Hereford cow was slaughtered, its meat was "entirely consumed", the owners said.
No different really to upholstering the seats in cow hide or mounting its horns over the bar, for example.

I guess otherwise the carcass would have just joined the other carcasses and been incinerated or binned or whatever they do with them (rugs maybe?).

Agree it's a bit ghoulish if you are sensitive to that kind of thing but, personally, I'd only be concerned if it wasn't bolted up there sufficiently and I was sat underneath it.

Meh stuffed animals are very dusty, I wouldn't want to eat under that.
