Re: When You Wish Upon a Weinstein

True, they did not react immediately - because of fear, because back then it was convenient not to, you name it...
Does it mean they did forever lose the right to talk about what happened?

And what if there's no evidence and no witnesses? It's not like they were doing it on the red carpet, you know...
Then there is no case.

What if I just want to get my own back? The other one - let's say you to get some feelings into this and that is exactly the point: Feelings have no place in legal matters, a fact people just don't seem to grasp - just goes to jail for nothing?

Another Australian actor accused, the lead character in box office hits Wolf Creek (2005) and Wolf Creek 2 (2014), with Wolf Creek 3 apparently due out in 2019, but also well known for other roles on Australian TV.

John Jarratt, Wolf Creek star, charged over rape allegation from 1970s
John Jarratt's accuser speaks up about alleged historical sexual assault

Other (perhaps not all) sexual assault allegations against Australian actors: Geoffrey Rush, Craig McLachlan, Maggie Kirkpatrick, Robert Hughes.

That's fair.

It's not often one can experience something on both sides, is it? What a lucky woman

Re: When You Wish Upon a Weinstein

It seems that Asia Argento, like Rose McGowan, was photographed at a film premiŤre nestled smiling against Harvey Weinstein several years after she claims to have been raped by him (according to their Wikipedia pages, Argento claims he raped her when she was 21 (so 1996/1997) and McGowan claims he raped her in 1997).

"Argento and her alleged rapist Weinstein at the premiere of The Heart is Deceitful at Cannes in 2004" (source article):

McGowan, Weinstein 2007 (source article)

McGowan, Weinstein 2009 (source article)

Of course, had this happened in most other US states or countries, there would have been no problem.

And this is what I don't understand!
She should have said clearly, assertively and into the microphone: "Please remove your hand". That's all it would have taken.

To me that is the normal thing to do. To those it wasn't so far, the me too movement should give them the confidence to do it now.

You think? Sheís in a church, at a memorial service. Itís probably a shock. And I donít think, judging from the commentary here, as well as in other places that metoo gives anyone enough confidence for that....not yet.

I see what you mean. You can see the shock in her face. You're right HE is in a church, at a memorial service. This is why I do, I really, really do think so!

What the general suggestion? She should whine about in in 2058?
This was the safest place for her to politely (but effectively) put him in place.

Re: When You Wish Upon a Weinstein

Yes, Curley, that would have been very effective.

It is, however, very hard to put into action when one is in freeze shock mode.

And also she may not have wanted to be disrespectful, not wanting to make the memorial (an occasion to pay one's respects to the deceased, to commemorate their achievements and person) turn to be about her person instead.

Good grief! She should've done this, she should've said.. all bollox!

If she said this had happened off camera we wouldn't have believed her, lol! The look at her face says it all.. shock that this is happening, disbelief.

Yep, I am older, as are you, an assertive f-off, no problem.

But if I was 20, I would've stood there just like her dumbstruck and thought is he really doing this?

Perhaps some pepper spray, and then excuse herself saying that she thought it was perfume!

Okay, okay, I give up. We will wait for the male species to become perfect (the part that isn't yet) by itself and until the doelike female species can live safely we dry their tears and support the believe that these situations are utterly unexpected and never witnessed before and therefore not manageable.
The only difference from when I was 20 and now is that when I was 20 I would have slapped his paw off and now I'd look him in the eye and tell him to get his hands off.

But as I said, off I trudge with my strange ways of handling problems.

ROFL, just saw that. A lot more subtle at a funeral than telling him calmly to take his hands off.

If you have the wherewithall to kick into instant fight mode, then that's excellent. Go for it. Not everyone can, though.
