Mystery space object may be first confirmed interstellar "visitor"

A small asteroid or comet that has been spotted racing through our solar system may have come from elsewhere in the galaxy, U.S. space scientists say, possibly marking the first such interstellar visitor observed from Earth.

"It is going extremely fast and on such a trajectory that we can say with confidence that this object is on its way out of the solar system and not coming back," NASA's Davide Farnocchia said.

Would it not be tragic if it were a version of another civilisations Voyager, their way of saying: "Hey, we were here too, we were once alive just like you!" And we missed it?

Arrrrrgh! MOVE on guys, nothing to see here, no intelligent life on THAT rock.
Remember the movie "Contact?" where the first sign of alien life is a playback of the 1936 olympic summer games hosted by A. Hitler? By now that broadcast is 86 lightyears away, Astronomers believe that most star systems within 50 lightyears, would be able to, if they were able to, detect our early broadcasts, assuming they had intelligent life with a comparable technology. But that was only a very short window but with the rise of digital technology our planet went dark around the 90ties.

I didn't see that movie, but the 1936 Olympic Summer Games were transmitted by closed circuit within Berlin only.

Yes and no. Actually the TV station "Paul Nipkow" transmitted to over 160.000 receivers, but there were also closed circuit transmissions to the TV rooms in and around Berlin with one cable going to Leipzig.

Now they (NASA) took a photo, interesting shape! Squint your eyes a bit and it looks like a spaceship

Wonder how it got to be that shape; usually space objects are not long and thin!

That's just an artist impression. All they know is that it is 10 x as long as it is wide and has an irregular surface. Oh, and it's red.

However...
