Alu-foil sales must have plummeted lately if I read some of the comments here.

If you believe that ISIS has the capabilities to send boats unnoticed from UAE/Oman to near the Iranian shore your second payment on the Luzern bridge is overdue.
The the explosion happened not even 100 km away from those shores. And the ships where even closer to those shores during the passage of the strait. Furthermore, four ships have already been attacked in the port of Fujairah, UAE last month. So, you say, the Iran has the capability to enter foreign ports on fast boats, unnoticed, attache mines and blow up ships?

Whoever did this could also have attached GPS operated mines (so that they explode close to the Iranian border) at the previous port of calls of the Kokuka Courageous and the Front Altair.

What material difference do you see between a clock-triggered fuse and a GPS-triggered one?

I don't thing a submersed antenna could receive a micro wave length radio GPS signal.
Besides, the Japan tanker operator stated that the ship was damaged by a "flying object" above the waterline.

Ahm, well, this looks extremely difficult but I'm almost sure that it's possible to install more than one antenna. Adept professionals may even be able to install many antennas and spread them in a manner that guarantees that a sufficient number is above water at all times.

I've heard rumors that it's even possible to make sure that the same area is above water most of the time if the bomb's center of gravity is off its geometric center. But again, this is just a rumour.

Re: WW3 Again? Heck this is getting boring.

So many new inventions in this Thread: GPS naval mines, flying torpedoes which hit above the waterline & Amazing Israeli secret weapon (known only to Netanyahu & Treverus).

going thru other news sources none of these show up.

How blessed are we to have such fonts of knowledge !

Isn't that (not understanding the others' perspecives) in one way or another the root cause of war?

By the way, this thread makes for very weird reading if one starts on page 5, as I did this evening.

All available evidence points to Iran (Videos, damage review, past behavior).

Coming up with magic weapons & antisemitic conspiracies is ridiculous.

No - wars start when one side thinks it can win. Possibly, the Iranians think they can send a message without triggering an all out war. They may be right - Trump is a blow hard. He won't be happy to start an expensive war.

Such a rocket hitting an unarmored tanker would sank it in no time.
BTW rockets use a inertial navigation system and a tracking radar/sonar (torpedoes)/heat/optical sensor for the final "approach", not a whimsy GPS which can be easily jammed or "denied".

Re: WW3 Again? Heck this is getting boring.

It would take one hell of a rocket to sink a tanker that size, also I don´t think that the goal would be to send a tanker to the bottom, for one the environmental impact in such a small body of water would be horrendous, also the usable channel is only a few km wide and a tanker adrift could totally block the channel.
I think the warheads were removed and the missiles fired as a warning, but by whom? I mean Trump had to have done something for the israelis for them to name a Kibbuz after Trump in the Golan hights.

Are you Pashosh's sibling? Nobody suggests GPS for rockets.
