World's richest 0.1% have boosted their wealth by as much as poorest half. So says a report by the World Inequality Lab. If this is truly the case, then our societies had better address how this wealth is being increased at the cost of building better societies.

Thats right, because all foreign aid project funding is deliberately channeled into the bank accounts of dictators, tyrants and militant organisations.

You are like the Daily Fail, cherry picking small incidences and claiming that its always the case. Of course these things happen and they need to be avoided, but thats why when they are uncovered the problems can be tackled. It doesn't mean that all funding to vulnerable people in war torn regions should be stopped. Especially in regions where our governments are simultaneously and hypocritically making a fortune selling munitions for these wars, an even more criminal act, I personally believe.

Foreign aid is the biggest piss waste of money of the government budget. It's basically going to poor countries and saying "here's our aid, now buy our stuff with it". And what isn't spent on bribes gets spent on Private Jets and diamond encrusted Mercedes for African dictators. You are not going to make the Third World better by financing mass poverty, all you do is thwart local businesses and encourage a state of dependence. Most other countries realise this however the UK just blunders on regardless.

Not true. There is a lot of money going to into overseas aid and development that is put to good use, thats not frittered away on bureaucracy. Claims often made by commentators that don't have the slightest idea about development aid and think that all aid is for about digging wells in Sub Saharan Africa and is lining the pockets of dictators. *sigh*.

Re: Paradise Papers, buckle up Private jet owners it's going to get bumpy

I am quite sure you didn't read that from start to end. Anyway these are the same arguments espoused by people who don't think that foreign aid is worthwhile. These arguments have existed since international aid to developing countries started and while some of these arguments may have valid points. It can be argued contrary that development aid is also necessary. Maybe you should focus you attention on all the aid that has helped successfully in developing and war torn regions. I already know you are sort of person who argues all the reasons against the Bill Gates foundation aim to increase global life expectancy and to fight against waterborne disease and malaria, for example. Arguments about saving lives in developing countries leading to greater poverty and over population. Very selfish arguments. Just to add Easterly is well renowned for arguing against development aid, and he does have valid points, but he generalises.

Not sure why you led this discussion onto foreign development aid?

I want the third world to prosper for the very reason that it'll lead to less poverty and lower populations.

Why has nobody mentioned ROLEX?, originally a British company that relocated to Geneva to pay less tax. It's now a charitable foundation so has zero corporation tax to pay. Makes Apple look like amateurs.

I don't see why not. As seen in an other thread, the marriage contract only seems to be about feeding the other if necessary and inheritance.
So after 30 years of friendship, this is probably more genuine than many "traditional" marriages
