I wish I could find the article again that reports that it was Harry who was asked about the skin tone and then he went back to Meghan to tell her what happened. If that were the case, why didn’t Meghan confront the person and find out the motivation behind it? It could have been a valuable teaching moment.

It's stated in here https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-56329887

As far as the "he says she says" game going on, it's an easy game for Harry and Meghan due to the palace never saying anything. It's ridiculous seeing Harry saying he wants to repair his relationship with his brother and father while at the same time publicly crapping on them.

But that appeared to be one of the couple's issues with The Firm - they never stood up for Meghan when tabloids were tearing her life apart. They never declared to the press that those things tabloids were talking about were inventions, apparently to protect other members higher up on their hierarchy.

They were talking about Archie not being given any royal title or financial security before the child was even born. I think it's more than unpleasant to know other people discuss your unborn child in this manner.

Well their goal appears to be to protect the higher ups/line of succession. With Harry at 5/6 during all this I'm not surprised they weren't jumping through hoops for the new couple.

That they could tear into Meghan might be the reason the royals normally marry "safe" with their matches groomed for the role. Harry went against the grain on that, and it opened up more issues than I think they were ready for.

I'd feel sorry for them if they weren't a bunch of millionaires who are unhappy their kid didn't get a royal title.

I feel very sorry for someone who felt suicidal because she didn't like the free castle she lives in, poor thing :(

That’s it! Thanks!

As for the British media, Piers Morgan is vile and should be fired.

Rich people commit suicide and have mental illnesses. A free castle or whatever doesn’t change that.

Yeah, sure with all that cash and stuff you’d think she’d be happier....but it doesn’t work out like that. Apparently you turn over all your personal shit -passport, keys, credit cards so it’s not like you can go out and find your own shrink. Guilded cage and all that.

This is a part I don’t understand. Harry has had therapy before, so I’m not sure why he couldn’t find someone for Meghan.

Piers Morgan is a truly odious little man.

Royals don't marry safe for quite some time now, I'm guessing for a generation or two already. See Sweden, Holland, Norway for instance. I think UK has a particular tendency to single out the "misfits". I think media is by large responsible.

Who knows. I find it difficult myself. I mean, there’s online therapy. But Harry may not be the one “finding”. I think there was serious pushback given the “optics” and also prejudice that she was perhaps just another “hysterical woman”. Who knows what they had access to. I try not to blame people for their own mental illnesses as it never helps.

On the other hand, we're encouraged to feel sympathy for people feeling suicidal during covid times on the covid thread. Restrictions are bad, people feel suicidal, restrictions should be relaxed.

So, what's the income/wealth limit to show sympathy?

Re: [Prince] Harry and Meghan

I feel sorry for Meghan if she truly felt depressed and suicidal, but was brave enough to tell a palace official so that she could get help. But it doesn't make sense that she was denied help?

Assuming that she also told Harry, would he not have ordered that someone organise treatment for her asap? I mean, "what Meghan wants, Meghan gets?" Didn't they have the same internal scuffle over the Queen's tiara?

As for the racist remark, it can't have been the first time she was confronted with racism. Given her personality (or at least the one she projects), I thought she would at least fight back rather than cross the ocean and run away from it?

And then instead of addressing the racist remark directly with the Royal Family, she instead tells the world about it via Oprah.

If they felt the need to "set the record straight", it would only be because they felt their public image needed to be repaired in order to market their Netflix and Spotify deals. Otherwise, these things should be dealt with in private.

I think Meghan has set herself up to be a dangerous role model. She talks about how women should be brave and empowered. Young girls everywhere will now think empowerment means running away from your problems and trashing your family on TV.

Yes, you're right. Leaving a sinecure job in London for a sinecure job in California and getting paid circa 7m per interview hopefully cured her depression!

I was reading yesterday about the area they live which used to belong to the Chumash Indians or the Santa Barbara Indians as they are called.

Apparently their land was stolen by European settlers, and how ironic that H & M moan about bullying and racism while directly benefiting from racism of the worst sort, ethnic cleansing and genocide.

Quite probably freelancers (literal ones) of multiple nationalities under the rule of the King of Spain, Duke of whatever, etc, etc....but where's the link to people being born 200+ years later?

I think the link is in the interview saying they feel there were colonial undertones used towards her. It's all a bit of a tenuous connection to hypocrisy, but that won't stop people from throwing it around.
