Many Brits would like to think the country is good on race. But I've see too many instances, in London no less, where white folks have visibly shown disdain when non whites have sat beside them. I've seen "respectable" white ladies and gents actually change their train and café seats when non-white have sat beside them. I've dealt with black cab drivers (not the driver, but the car color!) who have refused to take black passengers. And don't get me started on the disgusting comments I received from complete strangers, when I was dating non white men. In some remote UK whiter than white village I could understand, but in London???!

You'll always get a few exceptions, same goes for anywhere. The vast majority of the UK however isn't like this and mixed race marriages aren't frowned upon.

I would so like to believe this, despite decades of PC-heavy Multi-kulti conditioning it will still be an issue but I hope to stand corrected.

What if the corgis morph into greyhounds, say, due that assimilation process?

I didn't even know she was of "mixed race" (whatever that means) until some of you idiots started mentioning it.

Go back and read the thread again. Slowly and out loud.

I must say, I realize the British press is notorious, but some of the comments in the press and also in that picture Rob posted are out of line and in parts disgusting.

Mixed race? No one would even have realized she had a black mother until it was pointed out. I'm Caucasian and have about the same skin color as MM (though people indeed regularly think I'm at least "from a Southern country", whatever that means).

Too old? Excuse me? Three years? At the same time every other male public figure is parading around women that are younger than their daughters - funny how no one takes any offense in that.

"Another immigrant living on British money" - what?

And God forbid she should be divorced - wtf? Some 40-50% of marriages end in divorce, so what? This is almost the year 2018, we seem to have learned nothing.

I can't even. I don't particularly care about either Harry or her, but some of the comments posted in the press are neither here nor there.

This is how people think. Not all, of course. Funny, indeed. In all fairness, I think her being darker than paper white has less to do with how things are, she's just the wicked foreigner taking advance of poor good prince Harry. :)

You totally nailed is Samaire13. All this crap about her being older than him. What about Charles marrying Diana who was 13 years younger than him? That's fine it seems.

She's earnt plenty in "Suits" I expect so certainly not a pauper scrounging off the Brits.

And yeah, divorce is pretty common in the Royal family too - so what? Again reflects the way the world is.

I do sort of take offense at the use of these terms African-American, Mexican-American, etc, though. Sorry, but you're not - you're just American. Or maybe the white folks should start labelling themselves too: British-American, German-American, etc. Bet there'd be an outcry if they did. :msncrazy:

Which is still bloody ridiculous.
It's a bit like saying "Oh, I'm Saxon-English on my mother's side, and Danish-English and Brythonic-English with a touch of Arab-English on my father's side"

You see, the goal is to get that list so long that nobody can be bothered to actually tell it.

I still hope to see the day.
