Why didn't you?
We're both commenting here so I can ask you the same thing. And no, for some reason you won't catch me finding titles in the DM to somehow silence you.
I don't feel like I have to join the anti-Harry team or the pro-Harry team btw. I find the idea of monarchy absolutely ridiculous (in 2023), probably as much as some find religion ridiculous.
Funnily enough, they're actually interconnected, as the monarchs were viewed as "divine" some time ago.

Completely agree with all statements, and thank you that you have read my position as well . I believe that our discourse just now, and mostly from all posters within this thread reflects quite well the way in which the book has been received GB nationally, as well as internationally.

I also feel for the plight of a child that has been born into a family that bore him out of duty, and suffered the loss of the only bonding love he had experienced at an early age. And then to live in nothing less than a zoo enclosure within glass walls.

Oh, and there is so much more to dig seriously into.

I do however feel, that I would have most probably purchased a book that had been written and published with more depth and a sense of (on-going) history - as this could have been. For that, I would however have engaged a different ghost writer and publisher.

Netflix would have probably still picked-up on it pretty quickly.

Unfortunately, as is, it‘s a piece of reality TV instead. And that‘s designed only to get the ‚popular‘ audience (many in the UK). That‘s why we haven‘t bought it - the headlines are enough.

Re: [Prince] Harry and Meghan

Why do we keep referring to this as Harry’s book? He didn’t write it, I’m not even certain that he’s read it. It’s Moehringer’s book

Also full of inaccuracies. If he can’t remember that he was in Klosters with his father and brother, the day the Queen Mum died what other ‘mistakes’ are there.

He narrated the audio book, so he’s definitely read it.

But yes the inaccuracies are ridiculous. I remember where I was when the QM died and she wasn’t my great grandmother and it didn’t ruin my ski holiday. I can’t believe he doesn’t remember that, I wonder if he mixed it up with being told Princess Margaret had died - but even so it would be odd.

Re: [Prince] Harry and Meghan

It looks like the Swedish parliament has adopted a law in order to bring the monarchy closer to Swedish reality and the monarch opposes its retroactive application and says it should have started with his grandkids not with his children. As if it would make any difference if the law had been passed 7 months earlier....the so-called "heir" was a baby at that time anyway, he didn't grow up knowing he's going to inherit the crown.
Looks like a classic case of a father favouring his son. His only "objection" is that Victoria is still a "young woman"...whatever that means.
It just proves one more time that monarchy is an outdated institution.
All these royalties have an unprecedented level of exposure, some more than others though....as for the Scandinavian monarchies, there's more...luckily it's just not everywhere in the press, you're not assaulted with new glimpses into the saga and you're not "forced" to take a side. But that has also to do with the style of these monarchies, they're definitely more modest

Quote:
Minor members of Scandinavian royalty who are unlikely to become king or queen have been causing ructions with behaviour seen as undermining the monarchy in countries with a more modest style of royalty than the UK’s grandiose version.

In Norway, Princess Märtha Louise, fourth in line to the throne, has renounced official duties after becoming engaged to a self-described shaman who claims he was healed of Covid-19 by wearing a medallion that he sells for $222 on his website.

The Danish royal family has been divided after the queen decided at the end of last year to take away the titles of the children of Prince Joachim, sixth in line to the throne, to slim down the monarchy and give her grandchildren more normal lives.

I know someone who bought it right from the start and couldn't finish it. It is that bad, apparently.

It probably is written by him.

From there:
Prince Harry and Meghan refurbished the property, owned by the Crown Estate, at an estimated cost of £2.4m in 2018-19. The cost was initially covered by taxpayers through the Sovereign Grant before being repaid in full by the duke.

Oh, so the refurbishings paid for by Harry will now be used by someone else, perhaps Andrew.

Are they now lower in the pecking order than Prince Andrew? That would be quite an achievement.

I think it's probably down to the fact that they are no longer resident in the UK and the property stands empty except for the odd days or a week that one or both of them comes back. Presumably they'll have an apartment in one of the palaces to use when they visit.

The tabloid press is working overtime to push their reputations to lower than Andrew so I guess this is clickbait gold for them.

This is sorta hilarious. Expecting Harry to come "home" fairly soon, but also wanting to stay in the marriage so he can see his kids grow up.

Prince Harry and Meghan weren’t allowed to fly Air Force One with Biden after Queen’s funeral, report says

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were reportedly denied their request to fly back to the United States with President Joe Biden on Air Force One after the funeral of the late Queen Elizabeth II.

According to a new report from the DailyMail, sources claim that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s request to accompany the president back to the US in September 2022 was a “non-starter” and there was “barely any discussion” about the request.

Absolutely no way the translator just added a paragraph by himself. Someone put those names in the version the Dutch translator got (or didn’t remove them), be it Scobie or someone else.

The fact that Harry hasn’t come out and said Charles and Kate aren’t racist is the final nail in him ever being accepted back into the family I think.

Re: [Prince] Harry and Meghan

King Charles and the Princess of Wales have been named as the royals Meghan/Harry implied were racist in a Dutch version - since pulled by the publishers - of a book, "Endgame", by Omid Scobie, who wrote "Finding Freedom", a book in which Meghan at first denied involvement then admitted in court that a contact of hers had been a source.

Endgame: Royal race row naming not publicity stunt, says author Omid Scobie

Quote:
An author whose book triggered a row over allegations of racism within the Royal Family has said the naming of two people in one edition was not a deliberate publicity stunt.

Omid Scobie said he did not know how a Dutch translation of Endgame came to include the names of King Charles and Catherine, Princess of Wales.

They are reported to have allegedly discussed the skin colour of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's unborn baby.

Scobie insists the naming was an error. ...
Dutch translator of Omid Scobie’s Endgame denies making error: ‘The names were there in black and white’

Quote:
... The publisher dismissed the edition containing the names as a “translation error”. But translator Saskia Peeters, who worked on Scobie‘s latest book, refuted claims she had added the names of the two royals in the Dutch translation of her own accord, despite the English version leaving them out.

“As a translator, I translate what is in front of me,” she told MailOnline. “The names of the royals were there in black and white. I did not add them. I just did what I was paid to do and that was translate the book from English into Dutch.” ...

If I remember correctly, in his interview with Tom Bradbury, Harry blamed the press for saying that he and his wife were claiming the royals were racist. I agree that if he and Meghan just let this rumble on it will look as if they endorse the claims about Charles and Kate.
