Absolutely no way the translator just added a paragraph by himself. Someone put those names in the version the Dutch translator got (or didn’t remove them), be it Scobie or someone else.

.
It's pretty clear that the Dutch translator got an earlier draft copy of the book before the lawyers or publishers had seen the names mentioned and suggested they were removed.

Translating a whole book probably takes at least a couple of months so she would have got her copy some time ago.

With AI software, translating only takes minutes. Times are a'changing.

I remember speculating with my wife how dark-skinned Archie might be. Does this make me a racist?

Re: [Prince] Harry and Meghan

I detest hearing all this BS about the Royals every day.

What do they represent but a hangover from feudalism. Those that kowtow to the system receive honours and advantages and the rest of the population pays for it all.

What have they Royals contributed in the last 100 years except scandal after scandal and fuel for bullsh!t media stories?

I say get rid of the whole system!

I'm pretty sure Saskia Peters, the Dutch translator, is not a robot:

Also from the assets of dead people...

Quote:
The king is profiting from the deaths of thousands of people in the north-west of England whose assets are secretly being used to upgrade a commercial property empire managed by his hereditary estate, the Guardian can reveal.

The Duchy of Lancaster, a controversial land and property estate that generates huge profits for King Charles III, has collected tens of millions of pounds in recent years under an antiquated system that dates back to feudal times.

Financial assets known as bona vacantia, owned by people who died without a will or known next of kin, are collected by the duchy. Over the last 10 years, it has collected more than Ł60m in the funds.

EDIT: Awww... st2lemans is an angry royalist.

Could be wrong but I'd be surprised if publishers would pay translators just to bung books through Google Translate, or whatever.

no, rasim is really defined as: prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism by an individual, community, or institution against a person or people on the basis of their membership of a particular racial or ethnic group, typically one that is a minority or marginalized

Being curious about a biological development of a child is not racist unless perhaps you are rooting for one outcome

Re: [Prince] Harry and Meghan

I'm still waiting for the theory to emerge that Harry was dispatched to the US to regain the lost territories on behalf of the House of Windsor. Surely there must be some takers out there?

Honestly for a country with such an aversion for experts, I can't understand why they pay such attention to so called royal experts. The people need to stop letting the British media jerk their chains with this nonsense.

Depends how it was done. We speculated too, about our own children and later grand-children. Although we are both white, OH's ancestry is hugely mixed and family members around the world come in all shades. But there was nothing malicious or negative in our speculations, just genetic facts.

Re: [Prince] Harry and Meghan

In one of his many interviews, Harry said something along the lines of “I never expected my genes to be stronger than Meghan’s” - in reference to their children being ginger. So he clearly thought about what they’d look like too - such a hypocrite.

Probably nobody expected this from royals, this is a subject we commoners would indulge in.....I don't know if it's racist as everything can be interpreted based on the context, but Meghan is American and these are very sensitive issues for them.
My guess is Harry wanted to make sure that regardless of their skin colour his kids will have the privileges that normally royals on their position have. And here is the hypocrisy: he and beloved Meghan are NOT indifferent to the royal titles and the privileges that come with these titles....they only want to keep them on their own terms. And I can bet they want their Archie and Lilibet keep the royal titles too...in the end it was all a media stunt.

For a good analysis of the cost of the monarchy:

https://www.aljazeera.com/economy/20...ts-complicated

Then there is the benefit of tourism. But then it doesn't really matter if the royals are living or are just muppets, the tourists will come just the same.

No one ever seems to complain about how much the circus that follows the US president costs - and it is much more than the Royal Family - much!

It's pretty clear that the Dutch translator got an earlier draft copy of the book before the lawyers or publishers had seen the names mentioned and suggested they were removed.

Translating a whole book probably takes at least a couple of months so she would have got her copy some time ago.
I said it was pretty clear that was what had happened...

Quote:
Omid Scobie's UK agent did send a draft manuscript of Endgame naming the two 'royal racists' to be translated into Dutch

...a final proof of the 400-page tome was later sent but it is understood the translator had been working from an earlier draft.
