I think she beats me hands down in the rum bugger department. ;)

My race has nothing whatsoever to do with 99% of transactions with the people that ask that question, so stuff the lot of them.

Are you saying, there are companies who ask for one's race in their questionaries? Where? In GB?

Yup. It's part of their "equal opportunity" monitoring.

I find it a bit sinister myself.

Tom

Not if the create employment for others.

The Royal family help boost Britain's foreign tourist industry. They are a huge draw.

You Americans apparently love that sort of thing and come over in your droves to marvel at our palaces, castles and pageantry.

Nah, they're not. The Crown Estate pays a lot more into the treasury than the queen gets back. As far as I'm aware the rest of the family are independently wealthy and most of them have jobs too.

I'm no supporter of the monarchy, but it does offer value for money when compared to a presidential system - in the UK at least.

I've no idea why you lot haven't ditched the queen, though. You're like a bunch of teenagers: happy to whinge about mummy, but still want your washing done at the weekend.

Why would we? Then we'd end up with people like Trump, Mugabe, Edrogen, etc, in charge.

As an outsider I don't have the impression the queen is really in charge of running the country.
On the other hand it would support DB's mummy-theory: She patiently watches the children's headless trials at politics. LOL.

Australia is already independent. It shouldn't be too difficult to ditch a foreign monarch and become a republic. They just don't seem to want to.

There's no hope for Britain.

Sadly deceased a few years ago- the brother of an ex colleague was the staunchiest anti Royalist - and the righful direct descendant to the Throne :p
(Hastings from Ashby de la Zouch) had the succession not been repeatedly tampered with.

I take issue with the concept of "rightful". They should all stand aside and let the people choose their head of state.

Trump is a dick, but after four years he can be booted out of office.

Edit: I just read your post properly - brilliant stuff! :D

Loads, and I believe the question is still on the Census. There's all the usual options, then one names 'Other...' where I used to write 'Not applicable', but now I write 'None of your business'. Brits tend to be good at dealing with crap like this, which is why Jedi is now on the Census list :D and also how Rage Against The Machine - 'Killing In The Name' became the Christmas 2009 No.1.
