Is it a coincidence that a Markle will be marrying a descendant of the Spencers? The union of the Markles and Spencers should be an interesting one.

However the show announced they'd already planned to write out her character so folks will only get to see her 100-ish episodes. Or go watch some old "Deal or No Deal" USA shows. She was a briefcase girl on at least one. |

It looks as if Princess Michael of Kent (dubbed "the U-boat commander" by Princess Diana) may have been trying to put Meghan in her place, even though Meghan will presumably outrank Princess Pushy when she marries Prince Harry. Princess Michael of Kent sorry for wearing 'racist' brooch
" Princess Michael of Kent has apologised for wearing a brooch that critics have called "racist".
The royal, who married the Queen's first cousin, attended a Christmas banquet at Buckingham Palace on Wednesday wearing a blackamoor brooch.
Prince Harry's fiancée, Meghan Markle, who is mixed-race, was also a guest at the lunch." Wikipedia: Blackamoors (decorative arts)
" Blackamoor figures are sculptures and other depictions of exoticized figures, usually African males but sometimes other non-European races, used in European art in the Early Modern period. They occur in various media, often holding a tray or some other container, which was available for practical use. They occur in jewelry, armorial designs and decorative art. They often represent a conceit depicting a symbolic servant, and large examples of about half-size were placed on either sides of doorways, as real footmen might be."

The UK is actually very good where these things are concerned. | | | | | | Quote: | | | | | Many Brits would like to think the country is good on race. But I've see too many instances, in London no less, where white folks have visibly shown disdain when non whites have sat beside them. I've seen "respectable" white ladies and gents actually change their train and café seats when non-white have sat beside them. I've dealt with black cab drivers (not the driver, but the car color!) who have refused to take black passengers. And don't get me started on the disgusting comments I received from complete strangers, when I was dating non white men. In some remote UK whiter than white village I could understand, but in London???! | | | | | | Quote: | | | | | | | | | | Right back at you. Source Source |

It's almost as if Europeans are more opposed to the cultural differences presented by Islam rather than just being racists who don't like Muslims because of their 'skin colour'.

I read the results as parents wanting to protect their children from being subject to prejudice, and in the present climate, being in a relationship with a Muslim would likely present the most challenges.
25yrs ago, when my cousin began a relationship with her Algerian Muslim partner, it wasn't as much of an issue as it is now. And it's 30yrs since another cousin did the whole 'Guess Who's Coming To Dinner' scene on my uncle. She took her black, St.Lucian/Jamaican, Jewish, divorced, single parent, 15yrs her senior boyfriend home for dinner with her parents (we'd all met him except for her dad), and they're still very happily married. |

You should have seen the look on the face of my friends bi-sexual, disabled Jewish mother when he brought home his new partner - a Muslim transvestite, 10 years older and with multiple STD's!
