Re: [Prince] Harry and Meghan

I read the results as parents wanting to protect their children from being subject to prejudice, and in the present climate, being in a relationship with a Muslim would likely present the most challenges.

25yrs ago, when my cousin began a relationship with her Algerian Muslim partner, it wasn't as much of an issue as it is now. And it's 30yrs since another cousin did the whole 'Guess Who's Coming To Dinner' scene on my uncle. She took her black, St.Lucian/Jamaican, Jewish, divorced, single parent, 15yrs her senior boyfriend home for dinner with her parents (we'd all met him except for her dad), and they're still very happily married.

Totally know what you mean!

You should have seen the look on the face of my friends bi-sexual, disabled Jewish mother when he brought home his new partner - a Muslim transvestite, 10 years older and with multiple STD's!

Of course now they all get along like a house on fire!

It makes sense. Either you're a Royal with all that goes with it, or you're not. They wanted it both ways. I can't blame them too much though. No one has ever tried to step away in such a manner so they're in uncharted territory.

Exactly. I think they were naive to think they could just hop in and out as they pleased, yet trade on the royalty part.

Re: [Prince] Harry and Meghan

I am really wondering about them as a couple. Meghan (or MeGain as the Brits call her) had zero clue when she married Harry and thought she could project her "vision" onto the monarchy. Think again Meghan - It is an institution and beyond your control. That said, she has Harry under her thumb as well as Archie - which does give her some leverage. Troubling times for the monarchy given Andrew, divorces etc...

I personally feel very sorry for the Queen

Re: [Prince] Harry and Meghan

It always strikes me as peculiar when people go after her and never wonder about him. Top and bottom is that it's none of my business, but I do wonder if he's been planning this for years, long before he even met his wife. What if it was part of 'the deal' that she take the flak for a while whilst he plotted his life change... I wish them both all the luck, love and happiness that I would wish to any couple who have done me no harm.

Re: [Prince] Harry and Meghan

Say what you like about the British royals but I can't help but feel sorry for Harry at the moment. The DM has published VERY in-depth details of the prank call where he revealed far more than he should have about his life and thoughts https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...-Thunberg.html

This should never have happened and it shows that Harry is vulnerable, impressionable, gullible and having mental health problems and I fear this will help to tip him over the edge into some form of deeper anxiety or depression.

I don't have the time of patience to explain to you why it is horribly embarrassing for him so I suggest you google the many articles analyzing it in detail.

It doesn't read badly for an off the cuff phonecall. I can understand that the royals are meant to see infallible but this phonecall appears to be blown out of proportion.

I agree. The embarrassing part is mostly that it was a prank.

Re: [Prince] Harry and Meghan

My first thought was that it was all fake but, that being the case, you would have thought that a statement would have been issued by now that it wasn't Harry.

My second thought was how did the pranksters get the phone number. Some worrying security breaches there. The Daily Mail is a disgusting excuse for a newspaper but then so are all the UK tabloids. Aren't there laws about recording conversations without consent and publishing details?

I don't see how it won't have been Harry. It's clear that his split from the palace will significantly reduce his security levels and when combined with his current vulnerability this is extremely worrying. This is a huge embarrassment for him and the things he said about politicians will not be forgotten and will harm his and Meghan's reputation as well as affect the rest of the royal family. He is likely going to pretty emotionally devastated by this humiliation.

Yup, the DM is the most frequently insidious and heinous rag of all of ourUK tabloids, but it exists and makes its huge impact felt so cannot and should not be ignored. Considering that the Russian pranksters recorded the calls and published them I am not sure what can be done.

Seems a bit peculiar he would have such in depth discussions with a 17 year old girl like that to begin with.
