You believe Trump's two divorces are just media hype?

We're all *cough* Anglicans. At least that's what the tax office has been told...
Wish I'd thought of that, or even known about it when I came here. As OH is Greek Orthodox, he never got caught up in the church tax thing and didn't warn me. When I was asked, "What faith were you born into?" I answered honestly, so I'm supposed to go through the excommunication thing now.

No excommunication needed. Just a single letter were you state you wish no longer to be a member of the local church. Just like a club. It is the local church which levies the tax.

Re: What's Happening to Sweden?

No, just not taxed.

Silly HR ticked the "Reformiert" box when I first started working here and I paid about 5 years taxes before I realised.

Had to crowbar a letter from the local reformed church to say I had left it (never having been even remotely a member of it in the first place). Seemed too complicated to explain I was an atheist** so went for the Anglican option I was baptised into.

**HR lady couldn't get her head around the fact I had no religion.

That, plus the fact that the church in general should stay away from politics....don't you think?
This. And so should the pope. It irritates me to the same extent as Trump's provocations, tbh.

I guess the roles are changing, VIPs are more prone to use the media and popularity than before.

Is the divorce rate among evangelicals genuinely significantly lower than among the rest of the population?

I think many Evangelicals support Tump, not because they are deluded into thinking he is one of them, or because he is such a role model, but because he supports the things they support.
Exactly right about why they support him.
Absolute abandonment of their high principles when they sense a win, "holier than thou" are they not.

If he had not supported their goals they would be preaching about the "devil incarnate".

There are some quite high profile preachers who are coming out very anti Trump. So it's not as black and white as all that.

The problem with the Evangelicals is that they are split into many small factions, each with slightly different rules and interpretations of the bible. So if they are strict and have high principles, these groups shouldn't even be cooperating with one another. There are plenty of groups still in that mindset. But by and large and over the years many have come to see they need to bury their differences if they want to achieve more. So if somebody is pursuing the same goal as you, don't look at the reasons why but just go with them until those goals are achieved and then part ways.

Fortunately for them the Bible says something about not passing judgement etc.

I guess that also applies to not passing judgement on the Devil Incarnate.

"So it's not as black and white as all that."
More than 80% of white evangelical and born-again Christians voted for Mr. Trump, according to exit polls

Looks quite black to me.

Depends what you compare it to.

In 2008, 95% of African Americans voted Obama vs 4 percent for McCain

Makes 80% seem very heterogenous in comparison

Strange, Stockholm was beaten by Munich, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Berlin & Hamburg; wonder what these German cities have that gives them better quality, more diversity?

Does it say that those 5 German cities are more diverse than Stockholm in the article?
