I'm going to repost this here as it's very relevant.

Switzerland and the UK have struck a bilateral trade agreement to support existing commercial and economic relations between the two countries post-Brexit. This will apply regardless of the eventual Brexit scenario.

Oh goodie, it'll still cost 2billion Francs for a jar of Branston Pickle. What luck, good thing we are still leaving the EU.

I think with Schengen, we can still shop in Germany/France freely... we just can't work there. And with the pound plummeting, soon you'll get your pickle for €0.05 a jar.

I would LOVE it if the EU were to jettison English as an official language after Brexit. Could there be a more succinct example of how ludicrous the EU is?

"90% of our politicians and civil servants converse with each other in English but out of principle and due to our treaties English is no longer an official EU language"

Even the EU can't be that dumb though.
The EU is pretty ridiculous, but I don't expect it to be THAT ridiculous!

It is one of the things that will be cleared up after BREXIT. Presently a language needs a member state to sponsor it and as the UK is leaving there will be no sponsor. Mostly likely the number of languages will be further streamlined down to four or six working languages with the rest only being used for information documents etc...

If Guy Parmalin cannot speak English (or German) why should Junker?

Re: Brexit (and other UK stuff) information roadshow in Swizterland

Putting this here as I think this is the sort of thing likely to come up at the roadshows...

Text of the agreement between UK and CH on citizens rights after 29 March:
https://assets.publishing.service.go..._Agreement.pdf

And here it is in plainer English:
https://assets.publishing.service.go..._agreement.pdf

As far as I read it, it's 99% status quo with the only minor changes being:
+ Looks like it should be possible to put C permits on hold for up to 4 years (on request, no mention of conditions for request to be granted)
- Service providers can only continue to provide services with a written contract signed before 29 March/end of implementation period, contracts signed afterwards won't allow services to be provided. It will be interesting to see how one-person GmbHs/Ltds would be treated

So does this mean I can't get the rest of my pillar 2 out from Switzerland?

That's simple to bypass:
Found a UK company now, sign a 0-hour employment contract, and work later on for however much and for whichever new contract/customer the UK company officially needs you.

It doesn't affect me as I'm dual national anyway, but that was the workaround I imagined for a Swiss wanting to provide services in the UK after 29 March - an off-the-shelf Ltd company for £75 or whatever it is these days, with reg office at any old address in the UK, contract the UK Ltd and the job should be a good'un. Not quite as cheap and easy for Brits living in the UK wanting to work in CH, though

Theresa May made exactly same mistake as the "Remain campaign" back in 2016, ran it based on fear which just doesn't work, you need positive thinking to get this to work and it's evidently too late now !

Very curious to know if anyone here was at the Zug Roadshow last night? Just wondering what the atmosphere and reaction was like when the result filtered through?

The voting results came after the Zug meeting had taken place. OH says the meeting proceeded in an orderly manner. Seems UK and Switzerland will continue enjoying good ties and nothing major will change when it comes to British expats in Switzerland.
