So it appears the British government were right and the two suspects, are known Russian GRU agents that visited Salisbury just subsequently to the poisoning.

Now let us look forward to the flood of dubious and conflicting counter theories from the usual suspects

Tweedledumski and Tweedledeedski? I can hardly tell them apart. It almost looks like the same person to me. They're even dressed alike in that photo at the train station.

Lets see what Count Vlad has to say about it? I am sure it will be something along the lines of "they were playing with another team".

"subsequently"?

So the Russians have mastered time travel too?

Remember when Corbyn was calling for a sample of the nerve agent to be given to Russia so that they could say if it was theirs or not I really hope he becomes PM.

As an aside, this had me laughing on twitter:

Quote:
One of the more remarkable things about today's #Salisbury briefing is that the two alleged Russian hitmen relied on a Sunday rail service to get them from Waterloo to Salisbury and then out again to Heathrow in one day. No sane Brit would have tried such an outlandish gamble.

Re: Poisoning of two Russians and a police officer in Salisbury, UK

The evidence is fairly conclusive - Novichok was found in the hotel room where the suspects stayed.

On the face of it, russia has at least to look up these people. Last time it happened one of the suspects was elected to the Russian Parliament.

It will be interesting to see if they embark on political careers like Lugovoy. He apparently also got a medal, but of course Litvinenko died.

Surely just a coincidence!

Quote:
The Democratic National Committee (DNC) on Friday raised the prospect that the London-based professor who told former Trump campaign adviser George Papadopoulos that Russia had "dirt" on Hillary Clinton may be dead.

DNC lawyers wrote in court filings Friday that Joseph Mifsud, who spoke to Papadopoulos during the 2016 presidential election, "is missing and may be deceased,"

Re: Poisoning of two Russians and a police officer in Salisbury, UK

I stand corrected! Initially I found it surprising that the British police accused Russia on the day of the crime and released no evidence for quite a while. But now that they released photos of the guys, their passport names and numbers (consecutive!), their itinerary captured on CCTV cameras...got me thinking. But what is really the end of this story for me is the laughable "defense" of the KGB...ooops, GRU that they "were merely tourists." I mean...really?!

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-45509697

Putin can no longer claim plausible deniability for this, they messed it up badly and what is really scary are the methods. I mean..if you want to kill him, at least do it with dignity. Novichok, Polonium...these are meant to make the victims suffer for a long time and die in pain. It shows it's a much more emotional murder rather than just cleaning up messed up agents.

Nope, they didn't mess it up at all, they wanted to send a message loud and clear, wherever you are, whoever you think is protecting you, we'll get you.

Just look at the fall out, ermmmm none really, Russia have got away with 2 very public nasty executions scot free

Re: Poisoning of two Russians and a police officer in Salisbury, UK

The men, named as Alexander Petrov and Ruslan Boshirov, told the RT channel that they went sightseeing in Salisbury but returned to London within an hour..."The town was covered by this slush. We got wet, took the nearest train and came back" to London, they told RT, Russia's state-run international broadcaster.
Sightseeing in Salisbury for less than an hour doesn't seem very plausible and there doesn't seem to be any sign of slush on the pavement the CCTV shows them walking along.

Whoever sent them must have been counting on them being tracked down. Showing that Russia can get away with this kind of attack must be an achievement for them even if the targets weren't killed.

Russians bothered by slush? No, not very credible. I think they invented it.

Not just sightseeing Salisbury, but sightseeing Salisbury twice in consecutive days, flying in and out of Russia with barely enough time to get in and out?

Plausibility has nothing to do with this. The whole interview is like a cynical Radio Yerevan joke. It's basically an "in your face MF!" from Putin

Like I said before - the only way the UK can come out of this is severely humiliated. The UK has lost any credibility of being able to face Russia.

Not really, Moscow and Russia are suffering sanctions, financially it is hard hitting and kicking out diplomats is also par of the course. But you are right Putin doesn’t care as he is garnering support in other arenas, strengthening Russia’s geo-political influence across Asia and Africa. There are enough unscrupulous leaders of non democratic countries and his interference in the US and Europe are proving he has a long and deep reach.

According to Tagesanzeiger two Russian spies were arrested in the Hague in the Spring. Claimed their objective was to spy on the Swiss Spiez laboratory where the poison used in England was analysed.
