where the poison used in England was analysed.
Unprovable claim.

IIRC the laboratory in Spiez is one of a well-defined group that are capable to do those tests. Some thereof were tasked with the analysis; simultaneously some were tasked to analyse a known substance as part of the standard control routines.

However the public is not informed, it never is, which laboratories were picked for which task and which were left out.

According to Tagesanzeiger two Russian spies were arrested in the Hague in the Spring. Claimed their objective was to spy on the Swiss Spiez laboratory where the poison used in England was analysed.

"Neu behaupten sie, sie seien als Touristen und Sporternährung-Einkäufer unterwegs gewesen."

Claiming they were tourists and sport nutrition buyers seems to echo the Skripal suspects claiming to be tourists and in the fitness industry.

Enjoy a tour of Salisbury's picturesque petrol stations and back roads: The Skripal suspects' walk through Salisbury

Watching their interview, was wondering if this was their first mission or if they've already bumped off other people.

No, come on, it's obvious they are a couple of enthusiast sportsmen caught by their thirst for knowledge and quest of discovery of medieval architecture and clock-making.
</sarcasm>

It must be really chilling being in Russia and watching this. If these two people can go to UK and kill someone that was supposedly safe, and then come back and parade on TV like two butterflies - how would you as a normal person even think about protesting against anything? Would you like these two or their friends to come to pay you a visit?

Guess that's the message Putin wants to send out...

Just a quick reminder on Ryanair's O'Leary's prophetic words spoken a year ago. Also take note of 2:40 and onwards.

What does this video have to do with the thread subject.
Also : the Russians were spying on the Spiez facility for a reason.

Kinda embarrassing for Russia to have so many agents exposed.

Bellingcat, an open-source investigative group, has identified one of the suspects in the poisoning of an ex-Russian spy in Britain as Colonel Anatoliy Chepiga, a decorated officer in Russia’s military intelligence service, the GRU.

Bellingcat released a report Wednesday saying that Ruslan Boshirov, one of the Russians charged by Britain earlier this month in the poisoning of Sergei Skripal, is in fact a cover identity for Chepiga, a GRU officer who has received Moscow’s highest honorary title.

From an earlier post
Quote:
He's a former spy who was jailed in Russia and then handed over to the UK in a prisoner swap deal. In terms of intelligence information he's a busted flush, of no further threat to Russia, so so I don't see what they have to gain by assassinating him
Putin still feels strongly

Re: Poisoning of two Russians and a police officer in Salisbury, UK

I heard the translator use the term "scoundrel", not "scumbag".

Here at 0:58:
https://www.rt.com/news/440211-putin...-traitor-scum/

But I see that most western media and others are using the word "scumbag".

Anyway, "scumbag" does seem a rather colloquial English term and Putin gave the talk in Russian. Did Putin use a Russian word for which "scumbag" is the obvious English language equivalent ?

I do not know Russian.

Re: Poisoning of two Russians and a police officer in Salisbury, UK

"Scoundrel" sounds rather literary and archaic in English, "scumbag" more like contemporary usage, while also seeming more forceful. It would be interesting to know which is closer to the Russian.
