At the very least the British government could appoint Boris Johnson as ambassador to Moscow.

But Britain no longer cares about EU expansion, nor has a say in it.
That was years before Brexit became a major topic. Also, mind Victoria Nuland's "f.ck the EU" in 2014. Of course the UK is still NATO member after Brexit.

Besides, the power struggle must have started much earlier, probably 20 years ago or more, perhaps it should be seen as an extension of the power struggle with the USSR after its demise. I think it surfaced the first time in the early 2000's with the Orange Revolution. Who poisoned Wiktor Juschtschenko btw, doesn't that remind you of a current event? And isn't it odd that not even one sniper/killer from Euromaidan was identified? Why does nobody in the West care about the illegal ousting of ex-president Janukowitsch?

It's all quite murky. To me it looks very much like someone (or many) want stuff to remain hidden.

Re: Poisoning of two Russians and a police officer in Salisbury, UK

This is my take on the situation:

The UK is becoming what I would call a" warmongering fool" with only short legs to stand on, as the UK is massively raising hell with Russia likely over something the UK has done and is even banning Conservative western journalists from America and Canada by keeping them politically detained. Though they give room and board to Jihadists, allow raping of their little girls and no one dare not report it as fear of being called a racist is more important. It looks like the United Kingdom is being used by the Globalist to push for some kind of major war, as the Globalist no longer have the control over America they would like with Trump in office. Whether you like Trump or not, he's managed to stir the pot and open up a can of worms exposing the political sphere for exactly what it is: a cradle of corruption, criminality, and deceit. This is why the propaganda has been beefed up...no citizen is allowed to think for themselves or you could be jailed...check out Tommy Robinson's story here. The United Kingdom is now becoming dangerous to world peace, and one could likely say the UK is more dangerous than the terrorist they cuddle right in their own country. The UK is pushing for the war the globalists want, and this time around they are confirming what many have already thought that the country has literally "gone-down-the-tubes."

This is an excellent occasion for Russia to clean up its territory of infiltrated MI6 agents, undercover as British "diplomats", like Christopher Steele was in the 1990s. Russia should cut all diplomatic relations with UK, and give to the 250 British diplomats in embassies in Moscow and more in the UK Consulates in St.Petersburg, Novorossiysk, Vladivostok, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk and Yekaterinburg, 24 hours to quit Russian territory. Russia doesn't need relations with the dying half-island of Londinistan. Their mutual trade is almost non-existent, other than UK sheltering the Russian ex-oligarchs, who plundered billions of their country's wealth, during Yeltsin's years. Perhaps Russia should have left the Brits to die of cold a little time back ...
Last December, when a North Sea pipeline was shut down and the Britons
were about to freeze to death, the UK called Russia to help. Russia responded immediately to the British SOS: 170,000 cubic meters of liquefied natural gas charged on "Christophe de Margerie" ice-class tanker, and operated by Russian Yamal Company in the Arctic, was bought by a British energy company and discharged at Isle of Grain terminal in the UK. You can check the story here. Or Google it.

According to UK PM May, Skripal, who spent 6 years (2004-2010, after his arrest in Moscow for being outed as traitor and selling classified information to UK MI6 for the round sum of $100,000), in a “in high security detention facility” in Russia which probably means absolute and total FSB and Russian military’s control, yet he was not poisoned during that time, neither he suffered any type of "accident" there. And looked pretty healthy after 6 years under total FSB control in that prison upon his arrival in the UK in 2010.

After 8 years, Skripal living a quiet life in Salisbury on the UK government dole, "Vlad The Terrible" would decide "out of the blue" to poison him with a most recognizable Russian nerve agent? (As if other countries don't have them!) Why would Putin a shrewd, intelligent man, carry out such an act when Trump-Russia melodrama in US conducted by ex-FBI chief Muller has begun to fall apart and two weeks before the Russian presidential election, and not long before 2018 World Cup in Russia? Allegedly using a Soviet nerve agent created in 1970, and not too long ago deemed destroyed under the control of international observers, including Americans? Such weird timing, isn't it?

Russia signed the Chemical Weapons Convention, which bans the development, production, stockpiling, transfer, and use of chemical arms in 1993 and ratified it in 1997. The country was to destroy all of its declared arsenal of 40,000 metric tons of chemical weapons by 2012. Russia allocated $7.18 billion from the federal budget for the implementation of the program and built at least three chemical weapons destruction plants - at Gorny, in the central Saratov Region, at Kambarka, in the Republic of Udmurtia, and at the Maradykovsky complex in the Kirov Region. Perhaps Russia still has some nerve agents; however, has the US, UK, and Isra-hell destroyed their stockpile as well?

The anglo-American establishment and their posse hates Putin because he took the broken pieces of a Soviet Union that was supposed to be one more western vassal state and fashioned it into a modern, sovereign Russian Federation capable of pushing back against the Western vision of a unipolar world, a Pax Americana at gunpoint. The result is stupidity has found a new vessel to inhabit and call home in the great British empire and the west at large. The British circus is on a world tour with its prime minister suited as a clown. The mental asylum awaits. Many want to know how such a poison can get into England? If one must really know - the British foreign minister may have some in stock...!

It's amazing that the west is running around like the Keystone Cops about primarily one country-Russia. After Russia kicked out the Rothschild banks, kicked out western NGOs, openly allows Christian values, paid off their debt (western nations are heavily in debt). Last year Russian President Vladimir Putin made the final payment on all of the former Soviet republic's debts to the world’s central banks (the central banks HATE THAT and are the perpetrators of many wars) – making Russia the only country to set itself free from the tyrannical grip of the New World Order’s banking system. And now along with China they have devised a system (to compete with the Swift system to bypass the US dollar.) Trump was correct to want to work with Russia but the "Deep State" weren't having it; hence, the chaos and mayhem going on in America infecting other parts of the west and the world.

Russia and China have defense mechanisms that are actually "defensive" while the west regards anyone who can defend themselves as "threats." As more and more people in the west "WAKEUP" they find the real enemies are in our own backyard and it's this battle that will determine if "we" or "they" win. We hear lies and untruths as the populace are treated like empty headed vessels and if you don't "go along with the program" well, they will force you to. Free speech is becoming a thing of the past! Unfortunately, many still don't have a clear view of what is taking place. Theresa May has proven herself to be a puppet, gullible, and weak....she's dangerous. You'd better believe the "puppet masters" are on her ass and come hell-or-high-water, she'd better blame the Russians or else! The Russians are no angels but Putin is not stupid either and not naive enough to pull such a stunt, especially with a nerve agent originally designed by them....! I'm not going back-and-forth about this matter, it's obvious what's happening and it's not my purpose to convince others but I simply wanted give my opinion as others have done on this matter and I'm sticking with it...Have a nice day.

Can anyone explain why we have developed such a hostile relationship with Russia and what national interest does it serve?
Coz Russians play hockey, and Brits love soccer
But, seriously, the reason is the same as why no one likes Saudis - they have too much oil, and refuse to share it with everyone for free.

And, right after the US threat to bomb Syria for using chemical weapons (BTW, fake weapons again).
Boris Johnson immediately bound Syria and Salisbury together.
Well... The idea is to convince the world that Russians use different kind of logic, therefore they are aliens and deserve destruction.

What is different though, in some regards, is that, unlike the Anglo-Saxons, the Russians are not overly concerned with what other people think. Of them, of anything, in general. Must be part of that "'ed-up attitude to life" someone else mentioned, I love that about them. They don't feel the need to be admired, to be in the centre, to moralise, to play the justice warriors.
Refreshing, I tell ya'.

On a more serious note, if you can get over my jokes, Russia gets stronger and stronger in the Balkans - i.e. former Yugoslav states where there is a strong Serbian minority. Russia is also supporting other separatist movements in Europe, according to the principle - if they (the Amyerikanski) can do whatever they please, why shouldn't we. It's all relative anyway, in the post-truth era. I don't think that it is a good idea to abandon these states, and EU seems like abandoning or failing them now, same as they did with Turkey, in a way. There wasn't an inch of honesty when Turkey was (somehow) promised the EU membership. These countries need a solid and sustainable development plan, not accession to a club they don't belong to, at least not anytime soon, if EU has learned anything at all.
"the Russians are not overly concerned with what other people think" I assume this is part of your joke, if they did not care then they would not murder or jail their critics.

"a most recognizable Russian nerve agent"
There is an implicit assumption here that this agent was somehow copied.

At one time I worked for a multi national chemical company and they never managed to get their different factories to produce completely identical versions of their more complex products. You could always analyse the products and determine which factory produced them.
This was even though they had the full detailed recipes and all the cooking instructions.

Looks as if they consider the situation and/or the UK a bit of a joke.

Wouldn't Nigel Farage be the bigger punishment - and more fun for us?

The critics are a threat to their system, by murdering and jailing them they keep their own in line - or try to.

I think what greenmount meant was that the Russians don't care/don't let influence them what the rest of the world thinks of them. And they don't.

quote greenmount: <<They don't feel the need to be admired, to be in the centre, to moralise, to play the justice warriors.

Although very uncomfortable for us - there is something refreshing in that in times like today.

Re: Poisoning of two Russians and a police officer in Salisbury, UK

One would have thought it would have been sensible to confront the Russians about this with some evidence or proof rather than just rhetoric and suspicion for the time being.

Maybe the Novichoks is Russian, although as it is based on Orgnophosphates which are regularly used in Agricultural products and it was supposedly developed in the1970's one may asuume other parties have mastered the technique to produce too.

What is to say Mr. Skripal did not have the product stored at home and an accident occured, after all, he was involved in this shady sort of business itr would seem and what does Russia have to gain from killing a has been spy, who was released/swapped with their full knowledge and the football Worldcup around the corner...

Maybe somebody wants to discredit the Russians for whatever reason.

Wouldn't be the first time we've heard of irrefutable proof of "weapons of mass destruction being available in 45 minutes".....

Something is telling me this doesn't add up quite right.

Does anyone remember the intact hijacker's passport they found on top of the rubble of the World Trade Center?

It's amazing what turns up, isn't it?
its amazing home many terrorists take their passports with them during attacks and leave them in handy to find places, you'd have though the first page in terrorism for dummies would be "how to hide your identity"

Wasn't that the case in France too?

To be fair, in this case he would have needed his passport to get on the plane - and as it was a one-way mission, a forged or fake passport would have served no purpose.

The question I would want to know before passing judgement is how many other passports and personal belongings from other passengers were found intact in the rubble.

New exhibit shows artifacts from the 9/11 terrorist attacks

"Perhaps the most heart-wrenching items on display belonged to Ruth McCourt of New London, Connecticut. McCourt was taking her 4-year-old daughter, Juliana, to visit Disneyland. They were aboard United Flight 175, which was the second plane to hit the World Trade Center. McCourt's wallet was found in the debris, battered but still intact. It's on display along with three credit cards."
