Re: Hawaii

At the moment it looks like that scene in the movie 2012.
We should be getting some glorious sunsets though.

Re: Hawaii

Might be tricky if the lava reaches the ocean, for the rest it's business as usual on Hawaii and thanks to these eruptions it keeps growing.

AFAIK, Hawaii's volcanos don't have grey explosions. The magma underneath is very thin and runny and comes to the surface easily.
So, whatever happens, it will just be a local problem.

Yellowstone OTOH...
If that one blows up, the world as we know it will end.

Don´t have to go that far. The Phlegraean Fields, a super volcano to the south of Italy are rumbling at an alarming rate, when they blow then good night Maria.

Ah, yes.

Those might actually blow out earlier.

Italy's debt-problem would be solved, with one big bang.

Going to suck big time here in the Med if they go. On a plus note house prices should go down,

Well, the houses will be trashed, depending on distance and wind of course.
Also, due to the ensuing famine, millions will die.

If you survive, there'll be much more space (and much more work).

Personally, I wouldn't bet on surviving though.
I read an eye-witness report from somebody a couple of villages away who lived when the Tambora exploded. The ensuing Wikipedia reference-linkhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Year_Without_a_Summer was absolutely not funny.

Tambora was indirect cause for the Irish diaspora, but the really big one was the Toba eruption, that one almost wiped us out as a species.

Is that why you're leaving (have left?) Malta?

Nope, the way things are going here a super volcano eruption can´t do more damage than the developers are doing. Malta is being (I coined this phrase myself and it went viral) "Benidormized," the national bird is the crane and the national tree is now the greased palm. Just looking out of my window in Bugibba I can see 10 tower cranes and hear the jackhammers that have been hammering away every morning since six. The roads are crumbling, national treasures are being destroyed, corruption is rife, rents have climbed into Swiss territory, boutique hotels are being built at an alarming rate along with luxury apartments that nobody on a crappy Maltese wage can afford Albert town is now Malta´s first no-go area and the mafia have a stranglehold on commerce and politics and Caruana Galizia´s murder is still unsolved. I say bring on the fornicating volcano.
I´m here till Friday, then it´s off to China for three weeks.
