Trump to meet the Queen during UK visit

Trump will be visiting the UK on Friday, 13th July, and will meet the Queen during his stay; it is suggested the meeting will take place at Windsor Castle. However, this will not be a State visit, so there will be no riding in golden carriages or a State Banquet - just a nice cup of tea and perhaps lunch thrown in for good measure! The Prime Minister is being urged to cancel the event!

I understand that President Trump doesn't like to be taunted or mocked. He should enjoy his visit to England.

Re: Trump to meet the Queen during UK visit

The UK needs to pull on its big-girl pants and just let him come. Extend him all the courtesies of a visiting statesman, usual respect, photo opportunities, sound bites, media circus, etc.

Then let him go home.

Shenanigans and riots, along with insults and disrespect will just make the UK look like as big a moron as Trump. And the UK is bigger than that.

As my teacher used to say; rise above it.

That should be fun. Will he hold the queen's hand and tell her, she's in good shape?

Perhaps she’ll ask Price Chuck to stand in for here, as she has a conflicting appointment. Or perhaps Price Louis can handle the task.

She'll probably have a wire brush and Dettol to one side to clean her hands after that greeting.

He has come to the wrong neighbourhood then... the Queen does not often mock people publicly, but even she cant ignore him:

Completely agree, respect the Office of President since he's the one the American people elected through free and fair elections. However I would let people protest as is their democratic right.

Re: Trump to meet the Queen during UK visit

She will set a bad precedent if she meets Trump and will find it more difficult in the future to refuse to meet other unsavory types. The fact that Trump was elected is irrelevant and the Queen certainly wasn't. Trump is just a commoner like the rest of us (or worse).
She should threaten to abdicate and hand the whole thing over to Charles.

The precedent is already in place and that precedent is to meet visiting heads of state. It's not a full state visit, just a visiting head of state. A bit like meeting a friend in the pub for a swift half rather than inviting them to your place for dinner and meet the family.

She's had 65 years of dealing with dickheads. She's even skilled enough to guide Trump so he won't make a moron of himself.

so just to be sure: meeting Trump is not ok for you while meeting the heads of state of country like China, Qatar, Turkey are fine? Not to mention having met Jacob Zuma and Park Geun-hye?

You could say, she's the Queen of diplomacy when meeting dickheads. I wish I had her skills and tolerance.

Of course, the difference is they have not (yet) fought a war against the British and one should not forget what happened in 1776. In fact, some people will even be celebrating it soon so it should not be easy to forget.

Something like 24% of electors cast their vote for Trump. Slightly fewer than his opponent. The actual winner of the election was ‘none of the above’.
