Saudi military intelligence (an oxymoron, if ever I heard one)

"After carefully examining all the body parts, we've concluded that the person is probably dead"
In the same vein, the Onion news organisation has a assisted the Saudis by floating a cover story for the "Embassy Incident" which has both the virtue of being credible and of forming a solid basis for satisfying the demands for a thorough and transparent handling of the matter and ending the incident's unwelcome domination of the news cycle. It is entitled "Saudis Admit Journalist Khashoggi Died During Botched Assassination Attempt"

You know what's the worst thing? That one reads this and wonders for a second if it's not real.

Alot of those present at his murder could also have a very short life span. Suddenly they will disappear. Or of course got large sums of money for their silence.

Or the crown prince gets removed in a palace coup. This way the Saudis could settle their internal scores and the Western leaders wouldn't have to shy their blood stained partners as they didn't have until this unfortunate accident.

They might just solve this that way. Mohammed bin Nayef is still around. A "friend" or the US, no?

Khashoggi killing- Protest?

I feel sick each time I see video of poor Khashoggi walking inside Saudi Embassy. Was wondering if there is any protest planned in Switzerland? What's the Switzerland's position on this? Are they taking neutral position as usual?

Re: Khashoggi killing- Protest?

Methinks at best you will find a lukewarm "Meh!" Just not enough interest and no politicians whipping up a mob indignation and it you ask around in the street all you will get is: "Just one more dead rag-head, it´s what they do down there!"

Apart from summoning SA's ambassar three times, Ueli Maurers planned trip to SA might get cancelled. Switzerland will of course follow any sanctions by the UN and could do so with EU- sanctions.

I'm very uneasy with Erdogan being seen as the purveyor of truth in all this, regardless of whether he is or isn't. I'm also uneasy with him fronting up to SA. It doesn't 'smell' right.

Peculiar from top to bottom. Now they've released footage of a not-very-convincing body double leaving the embassy.

It's like they're not even trying.

Re: Khashoggi in Saudi Embassy.

Every little detail of this story was obvious since day one, just the chopped body is missing. Reason why it takes this long to get the truth out on media is merely due to the US protecting the Saudis, taking further advantage from situations like this to force them increase oil output to counter-balance Iran sanctions.

Re: Khashoggi in Saudi Embassy.

Revealation of the 'naked truth' by Erdogan was rather disappointing. No mention of audio/video evidences. Looks like everyone out there (Trump, Erdogan) want to make some sort of 'business deal' with Saudis. They want to blackmail Saudis to get oil and investment.

"Truth" is such an overused, overstretched word.

Every time a politician uses that word, you know that it's going to end badly.
