I've just seen the pictures. It doesn't look at all good - that is some fire.

EDIT: Is this a first? Has it ever caught fire before?

Jeeeeeeeeeezus. Trump. Thoughts and prayers, man. And flying tankers.

Seriously, I hope it’s not beyond repair. That’s tragic.

Re: Notre Dame on fire

The Cathedral has stood for 800 odd years, way older than both the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe. Watching it burn down in a matter of minutes is utterly gut wrenching.

My husband and I had a coffee this morning 10 meters from the place! This is absolutely shocking! Very sad!

Oh. My. God.
I loved that place. And yes it has caught fire before. (I believe).

It's made of wood, that has been their for some time so it's bone dry, unfortunately the cathedral will not be saved, once the fire caught, it was over.

Re: Notre Dame on fire

It’s a terrible news. My destination from bucket list is on fire. Upside, they won’t have to worry about approving funds for renovations anymore

The roof was wood, most of it is not, it will be restored.

The art inside, however may be flammable - paintings, wood, fabrics. I understand this is what they are trying to save now.

I would expect that much has been removed due to the renovation work, as was already the case with statues and such.

They are not complete idiots.
