Maybe they told her she was going to have triplets so she ate enough for 4 people.
But Archie isn't even Royal (yet), what a waste that would have been.

Besides, sacrificing oneself for a greater good is the males' domain. Or did you ever hear a woman say to save men and children first?

Women have been picking up the pieces left behind by men who are too busy "sacrificing themselves" since times immemorial.

Have you ever heard of a man cold?

That kind of gentlemanly conduct went down with the Titanic and never came back.

Re: Archie?

Megan reminds me alot of Wallace Simpson. Wallis Simpson (born Bessie Wallis Warfield; 19 June 1896 – 24 April 1986), later known as the Duchess of Windsor, was an American socialite whose intended marriage to the British king Edward VIII caused a constitutional crisis that led to Edward's abdication. Wallis grew up in Baltimore, Maryland.

I've had to google the cartoon character that Americans keep refering to. Archie is currently a popular name in the UK, and that's what surprised me most. It's usually the Royal family that revive traditional names, not follow a current trend, with the notable exception of Zara.

When William, Harry and George were born, their names were relatively unpopular for baby boys, but each of them inspired a revival in the popularity of their names, particularly Harry. I don't know any Harrys about my age, but an absolute shedload under 33.

Archie was No.13 in the Top 100 most popular names for British baby boys 2018, and Harrison was No.26.
http://www.bounty.com/pregnancy-and-...names-for-2018

IMO, that link does not refer correctly to popular British Boys names for 2018 correctly. Nowhere in the list of 100 names was Mohammed. That I think should be in top 10 listing.

When I first read this I thought you were suggesting that Megan and Harry were perusing one of those books of baby names and got bored halfway down the first page!

You reminded me of Canadian family who Surname began with an 'A' used to get loads of cold calling phone calls, until they got bored half way through phone book and the call centre people quit.

No-way was I referring that to Harry & Megan, but have had work colleagues when researching names for their child taking that into account.

If you‘ve had a bun in the oven for 40 weeks, you can‘t simply dismantle that oven overnight.

It‘s quite heartening that she‘s not done the typical Hollywood trick of birthing the baby then getting the surgeon to immediately nip, tuck and suck her back to her pre-pregnancy build.

Yes right. I think it was more her dress that somehow accentuated it.

I think she looked great. Two days post partum, booted and suited in front of a critical world? Good on her.

Probably better than the milk-stained hoodie and trackie bottoms* she'd had on half an hour before...

Re: Archie?

Archie / Archibald is quite common in Scotland, quite a few of my castle dwelling ancestors were called Archibald, I'm more concerned that she had a baby with a labour of 25 minutes in a cottage with no medical team (presumably delivered by the prince at break neck speed) and was up and about in massive high heels without looking like she endured a medical and epidural free birth, and not allowed to hold her own baby, in no time. Interesting, very interesting.

She didn't.

It has been well reported that she gave birth at the Portland with a medical team.

The original plan was a home birth but during the week that she went overdue the back up safety plan was to do it in a hospital.

Sandgrounder beat me to it. Hospital birth.

25 minutes? We don't know how long her labour was, nor do I think need to. Giving birth is an intensely personal experience. As for "not being allowed " to hold the baby... I find that highly unlikely. She's probably just still knackered and hopefully loaded up on pain meds. Plus I doubt that one pic was the only one taken.

Just don't tell that fresh prince's name to any French-speaking person
I'm French-speaking and I don't get what you mean .

All I can think of is "archi-sèche", which means "extra dry".

I read that she was whisked to the clinic the night before in secret but as you say it’s nobody’s business but their own.
As is the choice of who holds the baby for the photo shoot, it’s nice that the man gets to share the limelight and be seen holding the baby so good on them for breaking with tradition I say.

So desperate you needed to say it twice.

You’re obsessed, you need to get out more and get yourself a life.
