Yeah sure... lots of idiots are protesting against trash that is so mildly radioactive that it just blends in with nature. Quick question: When the first castor transports from France reached northern Germany did the protesters throw eggs at them. That "used up" fuel is encased in glass with metal around it. the glass layer is a heat isolator... They are so "mildly" radioactive that they still produce 120C heat on the outside of that isolation... so the eggs get fried instantly.
Do you have anything to back that up, like a youtube movie or something?

I'm not saying it's not true, I'd just like to see it.

That was in the 80s... long before youtube. Quickly afterwards was every transport secured with a five digit number of cops on duty and nobody got close to it. Cannot find any video... but here is the information from the pro-nuclear side and the producers of the castor containers: the trash is 4-500 C hot, the device should not exceed 85C on the outside. So the 120 C was probably the first generation, we are currently at generation five: https://www.planet-wissen.de/technik...aelter100.html

Re: Keep nuclear power

Worst case for nuclear is that we end up with more wildlife sanctuaries:

I speculated whether the best way to save marine life from overfishing would be to deliberately pollute the seas with sufficient radioactive material that we no longer eat the fish.

The discussion about storage of waste has been similarly afflicted by hysteria. The Greens have been instrumental in continuously raising the bar by inventing new conditions, so that in the end no site anywhere is suitable for storage. The result is that waste is being stored in temporary solutions which are actually less safe.
Without the outcry the shit would all be down the Marina Trench or in some other unsuitable locations. Just look up Asse, Bonfol, and Kölliken.

You want to organize a festival in the city of Zurich? You must have a better answer to question what you will do with all the waste and rubbish than: Yes, we will dispose it orderly, we do not know where and how exactly, but trust us. No, really, promised! Pinky-Swear?
