Normal people distinguish pretty well betwen changing the line too close to the intersection or forcing a very young person into a sexual act. See, non-psychopaths, we can easily mirror our own deeds and feelings on the others and vice versa and according to that, it is not so hard not to kill, mutilate, rape or rob. That mirroring ability is quite well developed in a human brain.

"Normal" people also usually don't get to CEO level at large multinationals.

Will be an interesting trial.

Ghislaine Maxwell, the British socialite and longtime associate of convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, was convicted on five counts on Wednesday by a jury after about a week of deliberations.

The Manhattan jury found Maxwell guilty on five out of six counts against her including enticing minors to travel to engage in sex acts, transporting minors with the intent of having them engage in criminal sexual activity and perjury.

No doubt there will be a round of appeals.

And another "suicide".

I SOOOOOOOO hope she really starts to sing about some of the rich and powerful names she knows did bad things... she has the knowledge to put an end to many high-profile careers and/or reputations.

No (or negligible) chance they will allow any suicide BS this time, I imagine she will be watched like a hawk by the FBI 24/7 after the Epstein palaver.

If it should happen, it won't be before the appeals are done, which will take years.

Probably not when the first "suicides" happen within her family.

The press talk of 60 years but that's the maximum and unlikely she'll get that. Most likely 15 - 20 years. She also has plenty of grounds for appeal and that will worry the prosecutors. Only one of the charges carries a a maximum 40 year sentence the rest much less.

She must now be thinking, why should I do 20 years to protect a bunch of people that never supported me or came forward to help protect me. So I can imagine a deal with the prosecutors to drop all appeals and name names. In return a soft prison, 5 - 8 years with chance of parole after 4 years. Taking into account time served she'd be out in 2 to three years time.

The only exception will be Prince Andrew, and I think she'll keep quiet or deny any knowledge of what went on.

I'm no lawyer, and we'll see how this plays out, but we've seen this so many times with for example the Nat West bankers. I think they spent more time fighting against extradition than they did actual jail time.

In UK we have this legal thing, term: 'Concurrent Sentence', we also have consecutive sentence. In the case of Concurrent Sentence, the person serves all at the same time and the longest is the longest a person will stay in prison. Different to consecutive sentence where one follows another sentence.


USA laws I find a bit difficult to understand. I believe concurrent sentence exists in some parts of America but not all. What is the case where Ghislaine Maxwell has been found guilty on a number of charges.


Separately it has been horrific for many prisoners in UK over these Covid times. I believe much of the time there were confined to their sells for 23 hours a day with one hour for outside or inside exercise in many prisons.

Interested in the bit there where she says she was a banker - before Epstein she only ever really worked for her father. Last year they were saying in some press reports her father knew Epstein and that may have been how she was introduced to him. Having watched the documentaries that were on TV last year, I got the impression there was perhaps something a bit iffy about her and her father, something just wasn't right somehow (I did wonder if there was perhaps abuse going on).

I remember the Mirror Group pension trial well. I've never actually believed Kevin and Ian didn't know there was something underhand going on. Unfortunately this trial had a jury who didn't understand the evidence presented (I seem to remember after the Judge said if this type of trial took place again the jury would have to be made up of people with financial and pension knowledge).

As for Ghislaine's Talk TV interview, why is she getting airtime after what she was involved in? She is obviously looking for some sort of retrial.

I gave up work to go back to college full time not that long after Maxwell Snr was found dead and got offered temp work which I was going to use to put money aside to buy books for my degree. One of the jobs I was offered was in the press cuttings department at Mirror Group. The atmosphere was so awful I packed it in after a week, nobody in the office spoke and it was like tumbleweed. It felt like people were all sworn to silence.
