Re: Climate change/Greta Thunberg [merged threads]

Climate Change talks - COP25 begin in Madrid today while Greta remains all at sea.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-50614518

So where is Greta Thunberg ? - still at sea aboard the catamaran La Vagabonde and what
an aptly named sailing ship for carrying today's vagabond of a Climate Change activist.

Greta is person of the year.

As were Hitler, Stalin (2x), and Khomeini.

Trump was runner up!

Trump was in 2016.
Strange that Putin was never person of the year, even though he won elections in 3 countries

I happend to be the person of the year back in 2006. I don't understand all fuss about it. I gained nothing with that status.

Although I understand that the Times Magazine doesn't want to get banned in China, I really hoped the Hongkong protester, or generally "the protester" had been elected...

Greta was in Madrid, JW......Just saying.
And why should Greta be held to higher standards than anyone else? I don't think she asked for the "Person of the year" title or that she took upon herself all the climate change movement. It would be nice if we'd refrain from mocking people we don't really know.

Because she is telling other people how to behave or to change. In that case, you either have to be a role model or you are a hypocrite.

More like telling politicians/people in power to take action though. There's a small difference. And she's done pretty crazy stuff for a child in order to live by her words.

If we can't wait to criticise Greta with any occasion.....I don't know, it's kind of sad. Speaks volumes about us not her.

Obviously Greta needs to make more impact when traveling to and arriving at these Climate Change
events.
Therefore this would be a popular suggestion for traveling to COP26 in Glasgow next year - with an artists
impression of Greta Thunberg as Boadicea on her environmentally friendly Chariot.

Re: Climate change/Greta Thunberg [merged threads]

It's amazing how many people don't like her. Again and again I hear the argument...

1. I'm doing the best I can to recycle and help the climate. She's preaching to the wrong people.

2. She should be in school.

3. She's always so angry.

4. She preaches water and drinks wine.

5. She hasn't changed anything in her plight for progress

I don't get it. I look at her as the voice of today's youth but is it really? Anyway, I personally admire her and she has my full support.

Yes no doubt if she was an aristo or a royal like Lady Diana Spencer who became Princess Diana
and campaigned for a worldwide ban on Land Mines, she would get no complaints.

Or a Pop Star like Bob Geldoff of The Boomtown Rats, who took it upon himself to raise awareness
of the Ethiopian Famine in Africa, with the massive fundraising Live Aid concerts back in 1985, again
there would be no complaints.
