One thing's for certain, Meghan Markle must be having a lovely few days off from being the centre of rage for the nation's tabloids.

Ha ha! My first words were “randy Andy”

Then I had to explain to my mother what "randy" meant.

Re: Prince Andrew = Pinocchio ???

His known association with Epstein and the 17 year old girl has been in the story for years now and nobody seemed to flinch until Epstein was arrested and then killed.

Prior to the Me Too movement, it seems that the Clinton's, Royals, Trumpolini, Hollywood etc. were able to blatantly do what they wanted to in plain air and it was accepted. Now they still keep doing what they want, but have to mansplain on the BBC, be acquitted in court or pay multiple settlements. When are they just going to stop??

Never.

They have no good reason to do so.

You might like to hear Dr. Hilary Jones' thoughts from 04:34 of this piece from yesterday morning.

I was most fascinated by the rather odd Lady Colin Campbell character in this video - did a bit of googling and wow!

She's got some very odd views, but what a life!

Wow! That really emphasises to me how long you've been out of the UK. She's very Marmite, but has definitely had one hell of a life, particularly her childhood and first marriage. She did Celebs Go Dating earlier this year and showed a vulnerability that I didn't expect (she's quite emotionally damaged), then went back to steel the next moment.

Oh, old prince Andrew. The epitome of hypocrisy and lack of accountability.

I doubt if I'd known her even had I stayed in England: I never did pay much attention to aristocrats and celebrities. Staff room conversations used to leave me as bewildered as if I'd been eavesdropping on a bunch of German rocket scientists.

I never know who people are talking about either.
I've never understood why people want their 15 minutes of fame.
What's wrong with anonymity I'd like to know.

Re: Prince Andrew = Pinocchio ???

There are various sources online saying that people make bad lie detectors, no better than tossing a coin. Here's one:

Quote:
As the best researchers can tell, and in my own experience as an FBI Special Agent (now retired), detecting deception is very difficult. Every study conducted since 1986, when the famed researcher Paul Ekman first wrote about this, has demonstrated that we humans are no better than chance at detecting deception (Ekman & O'Sullivan 1991, 913-920; Granhag & Strömwall, 2004, 169; Mann & Vrij 2004). That means that if you toss a coin in the air you will be as likely to detect deception as the truth. And while it is true that a very few people are better at detecting deception than others, they are barely above chance.

https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/b...-lie-detection
Virginia Roberts Guiffre, the woman who has accused Prince Andrew, has also accused law professor Alan Dershowitz, who says she's a liar, so she sued him and he's countersuing. Ghislaine Maxwell also says she's a liar. If one or both of them are right, why believe her about anyone else?

Quote:
"Dershowitz denies the claims, and says travel records, credit card statements and phone records prove he was never in the places where Giuffre claims to have had sex with him, according to the lawsuit. “I await the opportunity to cross examine my false accuser and the lawyers who pressured her to falsely accuse me,” Dershowitz said in a statement. “I will prove that before she was pressured by her lawyers to name me, she told the FBI and her friends the names of the men with whom she claimed to have had sex, and she did not include me. To the contrary, she wrote that she had never even met me.”"

https://www.thedailybeast.com/alan-d...se-allegations

"Ms Maxwell has long denied any wrongdoing. ... In a 2016 deposition unsealed this month, she grew emotional and apologised for “banging at the table”. “It’s borne out of years of feeling the pressure of this entire lie that [Ms Giuffre] has perpetrated,” she said. “That terrible story has been told and retold and rehashed when I know it to be 100 per cent false.”

Check out this interview with Roberts. According to her, after she met Ghislaine Maxwell and Jeffrey Epstein, the (sex) "training started immediately", was "basically every day and was like going to school". Why did she stick around? Supposedly because they were "powerful" and she didn't know what would happen if she said no or reported them. Does this sound plausible? How many mothers are trying to get their stroppy teenage daughters to tidy their bedrooms and failing, and yet we're supposed to believe that this one helplessly allowed herself to become a "sex slave" to a couple of strangers? This makes no sense to me. Either she was willing or she's making it up. I tend to the latter view. She has been getting plenty of media attention (how much has she earned for her story so far?) and has already written a memoir.

You know absolutely nothing about victims of sexual abuse...your comparison with a mother asking her daughter to clean her room versus a proven skilled predator enslaving a young woman is not only shocking, but completely ignorant. I hope you do not have any children, especially daughters. Shame on you!

Yes, blaming the underaged victim is the way to go.....I always wondered how these things are possible. Now I know.

All is lost when a lawyer is hell bent to wash up nefarious characters.
