I suppose it is a question of what happens first:
An independence referendum in Scotland, or an Irish Border referendum in Northern Ireland.
It could be either in my view. The May 2021 Scottish Parliament election will probably decide which, if there is another SNP + Greens majority or an outright SNP majority. The Scottish Tories ran on a strongly 'No to Indyref2' platform this month, and got hammered. They lost 7 seats to the SNP, leaving them with 6 only now. In all of them, the Tory majority was heavily slashed...... This does not bode well for them in 2021 I feel. And Boris Johnson is no asset to them, as he is very unpopular in Scotland.

Despite Boris Johnson's threat to return Nicola Sturgeon's letter unopened, marked 'Return to Sender'
requesting the granting of a Section 30, in order for the Scottish Parliament to have the power to hold
a 2nd Referendum on Scottish Independence.
The Prime Minister will give it careful consideration over the New Year before replying. BBC - Scottish Independence - Boris will consider IndyRef2 request |

Don't underestimate the Scottish People's willpower and strong sense of identity. Edinburgh is rather "tame" and many of the older relatives were not for Scottish Independence last time. All sense of caution has gone since and it is quite a sight to see and hear 80+ folks ready to take up arms (at least verbally!) for Scottish independence, such is the revulsion at Boris Johnson's election.
There are still strong religious values of Truth, Honesty and Decency in Scotland, that seem to have gone lost in many parts of England.

I'm looking forward to the day when Scotland not only wants to break free from the rest of the UK
and Tory England but also breaks free from QE2 and the House of Windsor.
Could the SNP seek out the King over the Water and return the Stuarts to Scotland ?

Scottish Independence - Is Nicola Sturgeon caught in a constitutional trap, as she responds to a favourable
opinion poll that suggests that 51 per cent of Scottish voters would vote for Independence now. BBC News Scotland - IndyRef2, Is Sturgeon trapped in a constitutional stalemate ? |

Using the same arrangement that is in place for the Irish border?

In one Dutch city it's a case of Bye, Bye Britain ( England ) and Hello Scotland over the weekend
after Brexit.
Following Brexit day on the 31st January the Dutch city of Leeuwarden has replaced the Union Jack
of the United Kingdom with the Blue Saltire of Scotland in it street parade of EU member state flags.
Leeuwarden, the capital of the Friesland region of the Netherlands also has a number of cultural
ties with Edinburgh. BBC News - Dutch city now flies the Scottish Saltire in place of Union Jack | This user would like to thank John William for this useful post: | |

The last sentence <<Mr Feitsma said: "This isn't an official area so we can decide for ourselves which flags we hang here.">> I guess shows they considered this.
Considering I had a NL on my Swiss cars for at least 10 years for sympathy reasons, I'd take it as such.
