Re: 21st Century - so much for gender equality

I'm all for equality in our house. I mean I'm not concerned at all about who wears the trousers, just who irons them.

And I have absolutely nothing against feminists. I think some of them are rather attractive.

(I'll get my coat now)

if you take two men, they are also not the same but they are treated equally.
No, they're not. Men who are more aggressive, and outgoing tend to be paid more than men who are not.

Gender equality isn't really about equality (or at least shouldn't be), it's about not being unduly fair, solely down to the sex of the individual.

As far as the original link is concerned, maybe the countries surveyed included Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, ...

If that's the case then one would assume that people who advocate for gender equality would also be against forms of positive discrimination that favor people based on their sex.

Definitely, in the same way I'm against positive discrimination based on colour or race. It's long past the time the world should have learnt the outside packaging doesn't reflect the person inside.

Depends how you'd smell to my nose.

And, keep the Hello Kitties in your briefcase.

Mini-skirts are great. They represent the freedom of...movement. The inventor of woolly tights should get a Nobel Prize.

Nothing useful has ever come out of the UN, this is just one more record in a long list of wasted resources.
