According to the UK Times, British Airways is under investigation by the CAA for telling passengers stranded in Italy to go into Switzerland to get a flight home. Some passengers were told to get from Rome to Zurich by road and they could then get a flight!

Wow do you have a link to that, please.

So is that the reason someone the other day wanted to drive into CH with a Italy reg car and drop it here?

It is a subscription site so not sure if the link will work. The Times is usually more a reliable compared to the other UK rags

Be responsible and do your duty and basically put all travel plans on hold until its over.

I can put my holiday plans on hold, far less accepting of Trump's anti-Europe rhetoric to support his ban. As usual, he finds scape goats to mask his own inadequacies and incompetence.

I don't see why some people are having a problem with the travel ban?

As of now here are the relevant stats:
Italy - 12'462 confirmed cases
France 2'281 confirmed cases
Spain 2'140 confirmed cases
Germany 1'567 confirmed cases
Switzerland 815 confirmed cases

The U.S. has 987 confirmed cases. Why would anybody in their right mind encourage travel to and from Europe, when with a population of 330 mio. you managed to sort of contain it to a fraction of that of much smaller countries?!

My opinion - don't travel these days. Let's hope that in a couple of months we'll see an end or at least an amelioration of this situation.

Sometimes you can't do more than you do.

Yes. People should take a more responsible attitude. Their travels could result in alot of deaths!

Please tell me it is just a coincidence!

Has anyone noticed that Mr. Tís travel ban doesnít involve any country where he has a golf resort.

Coincidence, right?

And yet a British Minister estimates the UK has 10K cases. And their flights continue.

According to the first few paragraphs of that story, they are being criticised for not rebooking their passengers on other airlines. Which other airlines with available seats would that be?

Not so difficult to take high speed trains to Zurich airport.

I hope so!

Oh God, I am really sorry to hear that!!
Be strong now, you will process all of these later...Any news? Could you change your flight before the ban applies?
Hugs!

So you're upset he hasn't banned more countries?

I couldn't get through to American Airlines yesterday as the lines were jammed. I woke up this morning and found an email from American Air saying my flight scheduled for next Thursday was cancelled and to rebook online.

But when I tried to rebook, I was relocated to a page which says "No flights available" and am then prompted to call the airline! And so the cycle continues as I cannot reach the airline by phone!

I think I will take the "safe" option and remain in Zurich as there are too many variables left wide open should I try and get a flight back to the US.

Thanks for reaching out! :)

And do Swiss tourists in USA wanting to come back here have a problem?
