Ban for motorbikes.

Soooo! Now the politicians want to take our motorbikes away and are pushing for a motorbike ban on Sundays and bank holidays.
Aber jetzt mach mal ´nen Punkt, die Politiker wollen uns unsere Motorräder an Sonn- und Feiertagen verbieten.
THEY CAN HAVE MY BIKE WHEN THEY PRIZE IT FROM UNDER MY COLD DEAD ARSE.

You could buy an electro-bike
While you're at it, get a BMW type with a roof .... you can wear a skirt on it, if you're Scottish.

Re: Ban for motorbikes.

Regardless of how much I love to ride a bike, I can see they want them to be more quiet.

I live high-up in Leimbach, and I can hear them pulling the gas on the other side of Adliswill, it's ridiculous in a way.

Doubt it. Slammer reports about German government's plans.
In fact, if that gets through there, it will multiply the bikers in Switzerland on week-ends and holidays.

Re: Ban for motorbikes.

In recent years there has been an inflation of rich old bros purchasing a hog, removing the mufflers and droning over the mountain passes in outlaw style. If you spend some time in one of the typical motorbike valleys (Grimsel, Susten, Furka, Oberalp, etc.) then the predominant noise on weekends comes from motorbikes. For the rest of the population this has been an increasing nuisance. My prediction: The 'old rich bro on a hog' movement' is going to 'outlaw' itself with the mess it leaves behind. If the end result is a complete ban on noisy motorbikes, then I am certainly all for it. I hope that one day the alpine passes will be open only for electric bikes and that the bros will be listening to (fake) classic hog noises only via the loudspeakers of their headset intercoms.

Blasphemy, I took a look at the Harley Livewire and thought to nail it to a stake and burn it with fire. If you don´t like the sound of a Harley you won´t like the tinnitus triggering mosquito whine of an electric bike.

Anybody in a C1. In fact a parked one is already pretty nasty.
And I used to think the Goldwing was a joke.

However, we have loads of bikes passing here in the sticks on holidays and they always make me smile. But I'm prejudice.

Re: Ban for motorbikes.

Where do I sign? I was on a day trip to a picturesque region of the Black Forest, lots of waterfalls and stuff. Would have been lovely and relaxing, except for the permanent drone of motorbikes and the frankly mental overtaking manoeuvres. Obviously, a Swiss law will only make that worse but I guess if it becomes illegal to have a bike that is that noisy in the first place, the only solution is to keep it over the border and not everyone has that level of dedication.

Together with the cars that are getting louder and more obnoxious, it really grinds on your nerves. If they get banned, they will have only themselves to blame.

Re: Ban for motorbikes.

If there isn’t a regulation governing noise, there should be. And it should be enforced. Perhaps the speed cameras could be tweaked to also do this.

Perhaps they could also catch a few farmers who believe the noise rules don’t apply to them.

They don't.

Re: Ban for motorbikes.

I digress for a moment but the biggest joke is that electric cars in Europe need to be refitted with a speaker which makes noise if the car travels slower than 30km/h. What world are we living in?!

Re: Ban for motorbikes.

Its really the Harleys. They sound like explosive diarrhea being broadcast over a P.A system. A bunch of "outlaw" bankers.
That said, this will never happen in CH thanks to our mobility laws. They do have controls from time to time and yes they do check to see if you have the proper pipes and tune, etc. If your bike has been raced tuned and you go through a control (they have a bike mechanic there) you may lose your bike.

At the same time why not ban SUV´s as these gas guzzling wannabe offroaders are totally over the top, and then quad bikes, they´re just silly and why not chuck cabriolets into the bin too. And don´t get me started on penis enhancing sports cars.
At the end of the day we don´t really need all the different types of vehicles, just build an electric trabbi for those who are too lazy to use bicycles and public transport.
