Turns out George Floyd was infected with the Corona virus.

I'm not sure what that has to do with the case, but it's being reported.

I suppose none.
First, because nobody would risk fuelling the anger right now by charging the looters and arsonists, vandals etc., even if some of them were filmed and there is solid evidence against them.
Second, because main stores like Nik.e or other luxury stores etc have good insurances and won't press charges. (that would be bad for their image...I guess)

It's kind of sad that after corona lockdown many people have locked themselves in heir homes out of fear of something else now. What a mess.

I can see some sneaky narrative emerging here, that what the police officer did to Floyd would not normally have been deadly, but suffering from pre-existing breathing problems on account of COVID, this made him more vulnerable and accelerated his death.

If the jury buys that, there will be a huge backlash and lots more violence. But some lawyers will try anything.

It might as a minimum make the difference between murder and manslaughter.

How much can they push the limits when everything was filmed and everyone can see for themselves?
That would be the worst thing they can do. They won't. There might be racist policemen (though I think that police man had other.....disorders too) but not everyone will be willing to cover this crime. Not this time.

Oh of course that narrative will happen; I am fully prepared for an acquittal and whatever stupid excuse they can come up with they will. And then all hell will be breaking lose I'm sure... If it hasn't already. Actually strike that - it already has, it will just be an even bigger hell.

Trump moving in the military just feels like he is rehearsing for a coup he plans if the elections go the wrong way. Let’s see now who in the military plays ball and who should get replaced till autumn...

It may not get so far. Maybe by some twist of fate, Derek Chauvin, will have caught a fatal dose of COVID-19 from this deadly encounter. Such an eventuality could also have a calming effect on the rioters.

The police always look out for their own.

It starts with looking away when another policeman parks on the double yellow line and it ends in covering one another for murder.

The police need to be held to the same standards as the rest of society. Across the board.

I'm hoping these demonstrations will break the blue wall of silence.

I'm not diminishing the George Floyd murder while chained up in any way, which is an absolute disgrace on the Minneapolis Police by a few rotten apples. I hope they get their just deserts & then some.

Regretfully it is not just 'a few' rotten apples. And every orchardist knows if you don't get rid of rotten apples quickly and completely they will rot every other apple that comes near them.

The entire system is broken. Why on earth were four police officers sent to arrest a man due to a suspicious $20 note? What ever happened to innocent until proven guilty in a court of law?

The police need to be de-militarised and trained to do their jobs. That doesn't include learning the best ways to kill people.

The guy is an idiot.
He tried to stop, confront or remonstrate with a group of 40 riot police who were on route trying to disperse a crowd.

What did he think was going to happen? They'd stop for a chat?
He'd alter their point of view? They'd all take to the knee?

Doesn't matter what he thought.

Breaking someones skull because they're in your way is not acceptable and that's the issue here. Plus, what crowd? There were more cops then protesters there.
