That country is such a bunch of nutters. To be honest, Trump is the best match for the US.

There is nobody who deserves to win more than Susan Collins. Someone who has always tried to bridge the chasm and behave in a constructive manner.

Here's hoping that Biden wins and we have an R senate. No Trump, no socialism. Everyone wins.
Suffice to say, I'm delighted with the results. A return to decency and respect but with what appears to be a robust block on any socialist policies (looks to be a split at worst and Joe Manchin will block excesses). Collins wins.

I'm seeing very little movement, where are you getting your news from? I'm still hoping Nevada finishes up their count so there is some sort of confirmation.

Do you think Arizona was called too early? It looks as though it will remain Biden with the difference there being nearly too large unless there are a lot of trump mail ins.
Maybe Biden should tell them to stop counting...
The Trump supporters are schizophrenic enough by themselves without the dems adding to it. Or do they really not appreciate the irony of what they are separately doing in Arizona and Pennsylvania?

Re: Trump or Biden .Who you got?

In the civilised world the Democrats are actually to the right of centre.

But let’s face it the US is already quite socialist. Look at the police, fire departments, water providers, sewage systems, social security, medicaid, medicare, etc.

I'm sorry she won. I think she's weak and disingenuous. Unfortunately the state I vote in (NC) re-elected a waste of space. But more to the point.....

If by socialism you mean medicare, public libraries, social security, nationally maintained roads, education and so on, I wonder at your definition.

Socialist? You gotta be kidding. This GOP will probably block even the most reasonable and moderate proposals if it includes one cent of tax increase for donors, any regulation or otherwise any sensible proposal. And I say that considering myself rather conservative (by European standards).

Can't understand why Trump was so upset just because the Fed Ex. flight from Ukraine to Washington with 12 crates of valid ballot votes was delayed by bad weather.

Again... and it depends which media map you're following. Many still haven't called Arizona, so they have Biden at 253 so far; some haven't even called Wisconsin, putting Biden on just 243.

Patience is a virtue. This won't be over for a long time, maybe weeks. Expect lots of recounts and lots of litigation.

I don't know what Biden will/would have done, but this is (if the results pan out as expected) an absolute firewall against radical policy should he have that planned.

Seems the markets agree with me that this is a favourable situation.

Are you so sure about NC? Looks like it could still be very close with the early vote, at both presidential and senate level.

Out of interest - what are your opinions on the lead moderate from the other side Joe Manchin (D-WV)?

Surely its a good thing there are a couple of people in the senate able to have dialogue with the other side? Also that these moderates allow for a competitive election in a heavily Red state (WV), and a reasonably heavily blue one (ME).

I think its important that both parties make some effort to put forward candidates with views acceptable to voters in states that traditionally vote for the other side. Its good for democracy and giving people a real choice.

It also allows for relatively purple voters in any state to have people in congress that reflect those purple views. I for one wouldn't feel represented by either party. I understand Collins's voting record and would broadly have voted similarly. She doesn't feel disingenuous to me. Do you really think she is a Trumpanzee faking it? Or a moderate, modern woman slightly right-of-centre? To me the latter makes a lot more sense.

You‘re correct. In fact I might volunteer next week to help with ballot curing - contacting people with small problems on absentee ballots to fix them. Non partisan.
