In Georgia, Trump is just 463 votes ahead of Biden, with 99% counted and 3,500 votes left to count in Clayton County, that voted 84% for Hillary Clinton in 2016. An unknown number of military ballots also still to be counted.

Here's who is leading in the 5 key states

Election Summary Report, Clayton County, November 2016
Biden has moved past trump in Gerogia according to the huffpost coverage.

Whatever happens now- and I do believe that Biden will win- but only just- it is going to be a massive mess. And the repercussions on the UK will be massive. Covid + No Deal Brexit + No Deal Usa - leaves the uk totally in the biggest mess, ever.

But for me, and so many I know - the main shock will remain- that almost 50% of the USA population, after all they now know, after all the lies, and much worse- still voted for him. And I pray, in my own way - that in the end, Trump will concede and go- but fear that his supporters will not- and that there will be much violence ahead. Tragic.

Yes, this is what our friends and colleagues were saying too. I personally wasn't that surprised he won the first time around, like others, I'm more surprised he still got so many votes. I guess they'll get rid of Trump, but not of "Trumpism".

It's hard for me to believe that someone seriously thinks that Biden is a great candidate. This means you have 3 choices:
1. You vote Biden to get rid of Trump
2. You vote Biden and hope that Kamala Harris will do well
3. You vote Trump because you think that even he is better than Biden

Well, this was democracy at work, so no one else to blame, but UK voters. Just get on with it and move on for the sake of both the UK and EU

This is surprising only if you zoom specifically on Trump as a personality. Zoom out and try to look at the fundamental problem in the US. I think even groups antagonistic to each other are simply not happy with the SYSTEM and Trump has always been a common denominator for people completely unhappy with the way things are. Don't assume everyone voting for Trump is stupid (like Pancakes) or that people don't know that he is a liar. A lot of people vote for him in a hope to break the current system.

This election is a perfect example: in the end the race was between an chronic liar and a well-past-his-prime white octogenarian (almost). This is not representing the country, the moods, the problems, the potential solutions, etc. This election was never about Biden either, it was essentially a vote on Trump. Hopefully both Democrats and Republicans will take a deeper look because obviously, the whole thing needs a fundamental change. Can this be done with people like Biden and Mitch McConnell? I doubt it. They know nothing else but this and are too old to change.

Sometimes change management starts with changing the management

You say that like it should be obvious... but some people like k_and_e clearly still don't get it. As amazing as that may be, they don't understand why Biden, while not the perfect candidate, is still like a ray of sunshine when compared to an egotistical maniac with strong authoritarian and fascist tendencies who wants to subvert democracy to keep himself in power. Trump essentially wants to be in Putins position with an authoritarian state, suppression of the media and the populace.

If we are being really, really generous we could say that people who don't understand this basic concept are just confused or misguided... because the alternative is that someone would need to genuinely believe that another 4 years of Trump would be a good thing for both the USA and the world. Or who knows, maybe they're just not intelligent enough to work these things out for themselves even when the evidence is staring them in the face.

It might be irrelevant to you but it’s probably not irrelevant to the millions of Americans who chose not to vote for Biden because they didn’t think he’s be a good president.
If the democrats had fielded a better candidate the vote probably wouldn’t have been as close.

They are stuck between a rock and a hard place basically, stick with the devil you know or take a chance on somebody who they think is equally as bad.

You're continuing to label people and not look at the much deeper problem here. The reasons why so many people voted for Trump twice are clearly many, but one of them is that there's a sizable group that are not happy with the political system and establishment as a whole. These people are not voting FOR Trump, they are voting AGAINST the establishment. Democrats are not getting it: Biden IS part of the establishment and no, he's not a "ray of sunshine", he's more like a "sunset". Had the Dems selected a decent, younger and fresh face, this would have looked very different.

Of course, the way to cure Trumpism and to "defeat the establishment" (that phrase always make me chuckle) is to vote him in for another 4 years and create an authoritarian police state and erosion of civil liberties... THAT IS GENIUS!

Back in the real world, I will happily continue to label anyone who votes for Trump over Biden and cannot weigh up the obvious pros and cons of having each of them in power, on both the USA and the world at large, as having serious cognitive difficulties.

I couldn't understand for a second why anyone would have voted for Trump in the first place. but that didn't stop it happening.

I posted a couple of days ago about an American we met in Greece who was absolutely a Trump fan through and through. As far as he was concerned, Trump could do no wrong, and everything bad that was published was automatically "fake news", although presumably everything bad he read about the other candidates was automatically real.

We're seeing a similiar thing now, with many Trump supporters accepting his outrageous and unfounded claims of election fraud as gospel and repeating them all over the place, as if they were proven fact. It's like they have no will of their own but just need another Tweet from the Pres every now and again to keep their brains occupied.

You could also say that you vote Biden in order to get rid of Trump. I could even write that in one line without insulting someone.
