Back in the real world, I will happily continue to label anyone who votes for Trump over Biden and cannot weigh up the obvious pros and cons of having each of them in power, on both the USA and the world at large, as having serious cognitive difficulties.
The problem is that your labeling doesn't change the fact that roughly 50% of the voting population still voted for him. Clearly, there's a deeper problem and as long as people don't start addressing those problems and revert to name-calling, the next Trump will appear sooner rather than later. The mistake of labeling people was done by Hillary (remember, she called Trump voters "Basket of deplorables") and this is where we ended.

It might be irrelevant to you but it’s probably not irrelevant to the millions of Americans who chose not to vote for Biden because they didn’t think he’s be a good president.
If the democrats had fielded a better candidate the vote probably wouldn’t have been as close.

They are stuck between a rock and a hard place basically, stick with the devil you know or take a chance on somebody who they think is equally as bad.
I think the election probably would have been close even if it wasn't Biden against Trump. For one thing, the election in 2016 was very close in terms of the popular vote. Also, no matter who Trump was up against, he would have tried to turn him or her into the enemy in his supporters' minds, because "divide and conquer" appears to be his modus operandi; and Trump clearly tries to empower himself by generating hatred and divisiveness.

Also, if the current trend continues, with the way the vote counts are turning in Biden's favor, Biden will have managed to flip 5 States from red to blue this election (WI, MI, AZ, PA and GA) -- five states that were red in 2016. And I think that right there says a lot in terms of how good of a candidate Biden is regardless of whether or not someone is willing to admit it.

Yes, this is what our friends and colleagues were saying too. I personally wasn't that surprised he won the first time around, like others, I'm more surprised he still got so many votes. I guess they'll get rid of Trump, but not of "Trumpism".
I don´t think Trump as a person was voted, the MAGA´s voted for an attitude.
An attitude that appeals to simple people looking for simple answers, if there was any doubt that the population has been dumbed down, then Trumpism is the proof.

Of course, the way to cure Trumpism and to "defeat the establishment" (that phrase always make me chuckle) is to vote him in for another 4 years and create an authoritarian police state and erosion of civil liberties... THAT IS GENIUS!

Back in the real world, I will happily continue to label anyone who votes for Trump over Biden and cannot weigh up the obvious pros and cons of having each of them in power, on both the USA and the world at large, as having serious cognitive difficulties.
The way to defeat the establishment is clearly to vote a male, in-his-midd-seventies, wanna be showman/politician old money billionaire. Riiight. I think it is called cognitive dissonance.

Btw, people have different reasons for voting the way they vote. Each to their own. For me it's just surprising.

You're doing the same mistake Chuff is doing - resort to labeling and not looking at the deeper problem. Whether he will change the establishment or not is irrelevant. What's relevant is what his electorate believes in and they believe he will. Remember "Drain the Swamp"? Dems better look deeper into that or we'll end up in such a mess soon again.

It started long before that. Didn't Obama say something about old white men who have nothing left except their bibles and their guns?

And a lot of people actually cheered him for saying that.

That should have been an early warning sign that something was deeply wrong with America.

The reasons why so many people voted for Trump twice are clearly many, but one of them is that there's a sizable group that are not happy with the political system and establishment as a whole. These people are not voting FOR Trump, they are voting AGAINST the establishment. Democrats are not getting it: Biden IS part of the establishment and no, he's not a "ray of sunshine", he's more like a "sunset". Had the Dems selected a decent, younger and fresh face, this would have looked very different.

Biden is now ahead in PA with 5,587

Twitter

To win, Trump would need to regain a lead in 3 of 4 states where he is currently down.

According to fivethirtyeight, DecisionDeskHQ (whatever that is) has called the race for Biden. And if we wrapped it up this moment with the current counts, Biden would have a comfortable 306 EC votes

I am holding my breath waiting for the announcement, but then worried to see what will happen afterwards as Trump processes the news and tries to fight it before he is ousted.

A REALLY positive thing is that the evil henchman responsible for so much wrong, Mitch McConnell, is now 78 and will likely not be working for the next election.

I think a lot of the Republican Old Guard will be forced into retirement or obscurity when the country has time to adjust to the new president and starts to digest all of the awful things that each of these politicians have said and done in the name of (or fear of) Trump.

As for Trump, I hope he really faces a reckoning for his actions in whatever form it takes.

CNN reports that a national defence airspace is being established over Biden's home in Wilmington, first trappings of the presidency.

Trump is apparently still in denial. I am enjoying this so much!

"...Trump’s allies have grown concerned that someone is going to have to reckon with the President that his time in office is potentially coming to an end, though they have not decided who should be the one to do it. There has been talk of potentially Jared Kushner or Ivanka Trump doing so, sources said..."

The problem with the old GOP guard retiring is that many of the people that have come in over the last years are worryingly Trumpist, Qanon cultists.
