Genuine question, why does Melania go out with a guy 24 years older than her? Why did Kamala Harris date a guy 31 years older than her?
Daddy issues? Power hunger issues?
Kamal is married to someone the same age as her.
You should be working for #fakenews media grubbing up old stories in a pitiful attempt to discredit people.

With focus on tea party. That’s where a lot of this started...
Oh I can just see the new US-UK Trade deal now where people in the US dump British Tea chests in Boston
harbour in protest over Boris infringing the Good Friday Agreement in Northern Ireland by tweaking
the Withdrawl Agreement. While British protesters hold demonstrations outside Sainsbury's and
Tesco stores in protest of the arrival of Chlorinated Chicken in the UK from the States.

Unlike the long list of world leaders who have congratulated Biden. The Slovenian prime minister, Janez Jansa, foolishly congratulated Trump when he declared victory and has been quiet since; you are really scraping the bottom of the barrel for excuses.
I'm explaining in response to komsomolez why I think Rs are mostly silent so far. I don't think they all will be forever.

Wait until it's official. As Trump says, no one likes a loser. I imagine many Rs will abandon him once it's official. Some will be noisy about how they never liked him in the first place and others will only offer a bland congratulations. A few will continue to defend him and claim fraud, such is life.

Re: Trump or Biden .Who you got?

A good article from Bazaar

''
Assuming that a woman’s success is directly tied to a man she knew 20 years ago is fairly absurd, regardless. It seems easier for many people to assume that a woman was the puppet of a man than to think she might have dated someone, broken things off with him, and run her own life ever since. Claiming that a woman is certainly a gold digger reaffirms a worldview pleasing to those who’d like to believe that men are the ones with the real power, and, if a woman ever exerts power, it’s been generously bestowed on her by a man.
This claim—that someone used their sexuality to advance—basically never happens to men. It happens so rarely that there isn’t really an equivalent to the notion of a man being a gold digger. And that’s not because, in 2019, there aren’t women in powerful positions, or men who are very physically attractive. It’s because a man in a position of power is never suspected of having gotten that power through underhanded means. After all, he’s a man. It’s natural that he’d have a successful career.
For some people, power is naturally the domain of men. Women who get it must either be unsexed shrews, or sleeping with men in order to have some of their power.
"A man in a position of power is never suspected of having that power through underhanded means. After all, he’s a man. It’s natural that he’d have a successful career."
The people horrified by Kamala Harris’ actions are not, I do not think, largely horrified by extramarital affairs. If they were, they could not tolerate a President who cheated on his pregnant wife. But then, that would mean holding men to the same standards as women.
For sexists, the hubbub around Kamala Harris acts as a convenient reminder to other women thinking of running that, if you choose to, you had better have married your high school sweetheart. Otherwise, your past may not be pure enough to satisfy people.
None of which is to say that Kamala Harris’ record shouldn’t be examined. There are many career choices she’s made which are good, and many she’s made which aren’t. But perhaps we could look at those choices, rather than looking at who she dated. You know, as we would with a male candidate.''

I was thinking about the adage "Hindsight is 20/20" earlier (and how I've often come to realize that there is a lot of truth to it). I think that at some point, Trump will become more collectively acknowledged as a national disgrace... perhaps once party loyalty is no longer an issue.

As far as I read it, Kamala Harris and her husband are the same age. He's just one week older. Not that it ought to be relevant for her professional life.
Hmmm.. read more about Kamala; her rise through the ranks is an interesting one. Flip/flop on issues is not her only problem but her rise to power through her boyfriend Willie certainly helped her ascendency - and then some.

And, read more sources than Harper's Bazaar!

PS..I could care less about about extra-marital affairs, but, male or female who uses this to their advantage for political gain, well then I have an issue.

You mean willie brown, former mayor of San Francisco. He had a relationship with Harris years ago.

As to why, I couldn‘t tell you. Sometimes people hit it off. Sometimes power, accomplishment is appealing. But, not always a nefarious psychological reason. Harris ended up marrying a man close to her own age, she seems happy, and that‘s it.

As for Melania........who knows?

Here‘s a piece of trivia - the age difference between Trump and his wife is the same as Macron‘s wife and Macron.

Never had a thing for older men myself.....

Trump himself frequently said for weeks before the election that he wanted the result announced on election day, and all the R's supported that. Who would have announced on election day if not the media and it would not have been official?

About "I'm explaining in response to komsomolez"; are you somehow claiming such posts are ring-fenced and nobody else can comment?

For comparison, how many R's waited in 2016 for the result to be "official" before congratulating Trump?

Excuse me if I take your explanation with the proverbial large pinch of salt.

JackieH, great article but writer makes way too many assumptions. For example-
Quote:
"A man in a position of power is never suspected of having that power through underhanded means.
Says who? I certainly don't.

Trump will continue to be a major Twitter user influencing his cult base on who to vote for so very few R's will criticise him and consequently, Ivana Marie "Ivanka" Trump will be a powerful 2024 contender.

Feel free to. We're all entitled to our opinions.

You essentially accused me of being a Trump apologist, which I'm not. I have a lot of friends who are Trump fans, and I know they're not going to even consider getting behind Biden until it's official he won after all the legal wrangling. Seems logical to me that the R leadership would also do that.

Perhaps it would be best if at least one case wound up in the Supreme Court. Then his 3 hand-picked judges (and the others) can tell him no, you didn't actually win the election and there is no widespread fraud.

Strange thing to write. My post very clearly expressed how racism in the US is a daily normality - Biden or Trump.
.
It didn't read that way to me: I took it to be surprise that racial descriptors were used, hence my post. We use white, black, Muslim, Hindu, Sikh etc in the UK. Same deal.

Strange actually that not many people mention Melania. I can't imagine that there is someone looking forward to leaving the White House more than her.
I think she's spent the past several years on v strong meds so she can cope with the consequences of some of her life choices.

No idea abour Harris but Melania was Trump's type: young blonde model. He was very wealthy and powerful. That appeals to some I guess.

Why? I like Harris. I don‘t care. I find this really distasteful, and it reeks of double standards for men and women. Read what you want when you want. I pass. I am not an investigative journalist and i don‘t feel like delving into the murky world of conspiracy.

Actually, there‘s nothing wrong with reading Bazaar, at least they understand double standards.
