Payed out 100K vs millions in legal fees to take on the State of California over a simple "recording a confidential conversation without consent" charge.
From the settlement: "It is fully understood and agreed by the Parties that this is a settlement of a disputed claim. It is in no way representative of any actual or implied admissions of liability regarding the to the recorded conversations among Vera, O'Keefe, and Giles that took place on August 18, 2009, in or near the ACORN office in National City, California and the recordings' subsequent dissemination, but is executed solely to avoid costs and risks of potential litigation."
Still exposed a criminal ring trafficking underage prostitutes.
Thats a good thing I thought???

| | Re: Trump or Biden .Who you got? | Quote: | | | | The Trump campaign and Nevada state Republicans have dropped one of their cases, their challenge to ballot counting in the Las Vegas area in the state Supreme Court, | | | | | They are probably running out of money for all those lawyers. They already switched from using leading high-cost lawyers to cheaper local firms. | Quote: | | | | On Nov. 12, TikTok faces a deadline that requires the company be spun off from its Chinese parent, ByteDance.
The deadline comes from an executive order President Donald Trump signed on Aug. 14. But the order doesn't specify any penalties or consequences if the deadline is breached.
Though he pressured TikTok to come up with a deal on a short timeline, Trump has seemingly set the issue aside as he tries to rescue his presidential campaign with baseless allegations of election fraud.
TikTok has filed a petition in court "to defend our rights and those of our more than 1,500 employees in the US." | | | | | Nobody seems to know what happens next, Trump seems to have lost interest.
Likely the courts will not rule before Biden's inauguration and so far he has not indicated how he will treat TikTok.

Thats a good thing I thought??? | | | | | Actually, there was no criminal ring.
The California Attorney General's Office Report was released on April 1, 2010, concluding there was no evidence of criminal conduct on the part of ACORN employees nor any evidence that any employee intended to aid or abet criminal conduct.

| | Re: Trump or Biden .Who you got? | Quote: | | | | | | | | | | Do you even read what you post? Ballots are not presently blockchained. This is a patent request for a system that doesn't exist. Not every ballot that is mailed to a voter is returned via the mail. Many are placed in drop boxes or hand delivered to county offices.
There are ample measures in place to keep track of ballots right now, including specific card stock, specific markings/barcodes, sometimes watermarks, etc. Every state except North Dakota has a statewide voter registration database. 30 states + DC participate in ERIC to try and keep the voter rolls updated.
Also don't fall prey to the idea that blockchain is the end-all and be-all of security. Billions in Bitcoin have been stolen. | The following 6 users would like to thank 3Wishes for this useful post:

Want to donate for a recount? Disgraceful, and sounds like fraud.
Also the Trump photo is great. Can't Estee Lauder do better?
"Much of the money raised by Stepien and the Trump campaign won’t go towards challenging election results, however, but to help set the stage for the president’s next act. The Trump campaign has a recount fund, but the money won’t go to it unless someone gives more than $8,333. Rather, 60 percent of a donation up to that amount for Trump’s “Official Election Defense Fund” is routed to a new PAC started this week by the president that can pay for a wide range of activities — but is likely legally barred from spending on recounts, lawyers say. The remaining 40 percent goes to the Republican National Committee, which is allowed — but not required to — spend on the recount. Prior to Tuesday, the majority of a donation went to helping Trump’s campaign cover its debt." https://www.politico.com/news/2020/1...raising-436188 | This user would like to thank komsomolez for this useful post:

| | Re: Trump or Biden .Who you got? | Quote: | | | | Bryan Ware, a top official at the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), will step down at the end of the week.
Reuters reported that a senior U.S. official said Ware had been asked to resign by the White House earlier this week.
Ware could be the first of several officials at CISA to depart.
The potential shake-up at CISA comes just over a week after the agency served as the key federal group coordinating security efforts around the general election.
CISA also rolled out a “rumor control” web page to help combat misinformation and disinformation around the election process, with CISA regularly updating the site over the past week as election concerns have spiked. | | | | | Source
Presumably, Trump did not like his own administration debunking his fact free claims of vote fraud.

There's 11 members older than her.
In 2019, 133 members of the UK House of Lords were older than Pelosi is now.

There are term limits for the president, why not for congress and the senate?

Tom | | | | | At what age? What limits would you put in place?
US HofL has a minimum age of 21 but no maximum.
US House of Representatives had a minimum age of 25 but no maximum.

Completely agree Tom! Time to enact term limits for career politicians like Pelosi, Schumer et al and Republicans: McConnell, Graham et al... The fact that there are not term limits for the Senate and Congress only encourages corruption in my view.
And I wonder how many have leveraged their position for personal/financial gain? (Why even ask that question?) |

Calm down Tom. | | | | | Probably makes more sense to limit the number of terms rather than the age.
But I haven’t a clue as to how to limit these...I’m thinking 2-3 terms as senator, maybe 5-10 terms as House of Representatives. But, before you do this, there has to be sufficient infrastructure to support new people - we’ve seen what a shitshow a politically inexperienced president can create - though maybe that’s as much down to the specific person as anything. And while we’re at it, the Supreme Court needs limits too.
If term limits are imposed, then the retirement structure also needs to change. Members of Congress get very cushy retirement iirc. If you’re only going to be there 10, 20 years, then the expectation is that you’ll work afterward. And not as a lobbyist. Also Congress needs to have the same shitty health care options as the rest of the US population.
