Re: Trump or Biden .Who you got?

Another set back for Trump
Quote:
President Donald Trump’s push to subvert the 2020 election results took a potentially fatal hit Monday, as election officials in Michigan certified President-elect Joe Biden’s victory in the state and more key battlegrounds prepare to formalize Biden’s wins.

Michigan’s state Board of Canvassers certified the vote with three yes votes and one abstention, a bipartisan decision affirming Biden’s victory over Trump by more than 155,000 votes.
Edit: and another
Quote:
The Pennsylvania Supreme Court rejected the Trump campaign lawsuits Monday that called for the dismissal of more than 8,000 absentee ballots in Allegheny County. In five lawsuits, President Trump’s attorneys asked the courts to throw out ballots that were missing information, such as a handwritten name or address or the date on which the ballots were signed. In addition, the state Supreme Court reversed a lower court ruling that had invalidated 2,349 ballots in Allegheny County over missing information.

The ruling was a setback for Trump as the state’s counties move forward with efforts to certify the Pennsylvania vote.
Edit:
Quote:
Trump's lawyers filed for an expedited appeal in PA today.
Third Circuit Court of Appeals granted and they had to file their brief on or before 4pm today.
According to Fox News, they missed this deadline.

Trump's major case collapses
U.S. 3rd Circuit Court of Appeals Judge Stephanos Bibas said in a court filing Monday afternoon that the appeal was "summarily dismissed for lack of standing, as there is no injury-in-fact."

... But of course, this still isn't a concession!

Trump finally signs off on Biden transition in ‘best interests of country’ but still won’t admit he lost

It‘s fine though. It‘s important to start the process. Trump‘s going to wallow in butthurt for a while.

At some point he‘s going to need to leave. Will he turn up for the inauguration? No idea.

I can’t see any reason why he would have to be there, other than to count the audience.

I thought TTYL was asking whether Trump would turn up for the transition. It really would be in his best interest to be there to sign the check-out, otherwise he'd be risking the agent making all sorts of claims: the oven wasn't cleaned properly, picture hook holes in the wall, scratches on the parquet...

Re: Trump or Biden .Who you got?

Not really Trump or Biden, but this just shows how the U.S. desperately needs election reform.

A state senate race in Florida was decided by 32 votes (the R won), when it appears a "dark" or pretend candidate who didn't even campaign managed to get 6,000 votes. The dark candidate conveniently happens to have the same last name as the D candidate. Sadly it seems voters didn't realize one was a felon and one was not:

What does he expect to happen? I can imagine him chaining himself to his desk in the Oval Office come Jan 20th. Either that or setting fire to the WH on his way out.

I expect he'll probably do the equivalent of a presidential moonlight flit though.

In the meantime, we have friends from Ulster we can hardly talk to because they just do not want Biden- even though they certainly did not want Trump. the situation in NI is going to be very tense, and hopefully not worse.

You can hardly stop someone from running because they have the same surname as a major party candidate.

Its obviously dirty tricks, but I don't really see how it can be prevented. Ultimately that's what the party descriptor is there for.

On the day of inauguration Trump will have one of his rallies. What are great way to go that would have been...
The more damage is caused to corrupt two-party tyranny the better. I hope they can never regain all the pomp and circumstance in Washington after Trump.

You're on the right track but Trump's genius lawyer Giuliani has an ever more brilliant plan: he doesn't fix the issues, the handover fails and he has another 4 years as president.

Re: Trump or Biden .Who you got?

The depressing thing to me (apart from all the all stuff going on politically in the States atm) is the fact that this will all start up again in a couple of years' time as they begin to ramp up for the next election. System needs a major overhaul - preferably making campaigns for nominations and presidential elections no more than 6 weeks each max. Then, perhaps, whoever's in charge can actually get on with the job instead of keeping an eye on being re-elected next time around.

Another bitter pill for Donny to swallow

Markets opened up for a second day in a row on Tuesday after President Trump gave the go-ahead to begin the formal transition process to President-elect Joe Biden.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 323 points, or 1.1 percent, and the S&P 500 increased 22 points or 0.6 percent.
So much for a Biden election crashing the Markets.

Next to look forward to is the Supreme Court decision about releasing Trump's tax returns to the prosecutors.

They clearly like Trump gone and the republican senate. Provided said senate allows for stimulus.

The surname is only part of it. Why not choose a Rodriguez who doesn't have a felony record?

Florida law prohibits felons from running for or holding office unless they've received permission from the state's clemency board. Except this guy seems to have gotten through a loophole. According to the article, the fake candidate pleaded guilty to two felonies back in 2012 but the court didn't "adjudicate the charges" - which means technically he wasn't convicted or something.
