There has been a mass exodus from the party for a reason... | | | | | I don’t know that I see a mass exodus, though. Look at all the down ballot races won by Republicans. And even the Lincoln project, these people are not new Democrats, rather Republicans who were against Trump and who refused to vote for him.

| | Re: Trump or Biden .Who you got? | Quote: | | | | | Sowing the seeds of positivity that a following candidate can build on (if you'll forgive the mixed metaphors) by being clear that he's not just out for re-election to hold on to power, is what I was suggesting. | | | | | Can you share an example from the past when an elected President "sowed the seeds of positivity" for the next one? | Quote: | | | | | the GOP has shown themselves to be totally incapable for standing by Trump even when he went completely against all of the principles they supposedly stand for. | | | | | Absolutely. And the explanation for this is most succinctly expressed in the number "71 million". Nobody in an electable office and in their right mind will ignore the influence of Trump over these people. In the end, politics is about getting elected, not about doing the right thing. | Quote: | | | | | There has been a mass exodus from the party for a reason... | | | | | Who won/is winning the Senate? (despite the grandiose projections of the Dems to dominate it)

Nor was I suggesting that it could, just that it might be a possible outcome of not running for a second term. Lots of conditionals there, you notice, and I already said I wasn't sure it could work.

| | Re: Trump or Biden .Who you got? | Quote: | | | | | You mean hand over the reins of power to a chosen successor who was NOT elected in the role of President? This will be a blatant abuse of power, the sort of abuse we're now criticizing Trump of. This is precisely what Putin did with Medvedev. | | | | | The Biden/Harris situation is markedly different to the Putin/Medvedev tandemocracy. Biden and Harris were elected, together, as a single unit (and I have a problem with that, but that's another story). Electors couldn't choose one without the other. And everyone knows what happens if a President is incapacitated, or resigns; there's even recent(ish) history with Nixon and Kennedy to demonstrate that the VP becomes president. You could argue that many, probably most voters chose Biden/Harris with the expectation, almost, that Harris would take over, either in the first term or in the second.
Not the same as one man manipulating another to suit his own objectives.

| | | | | I'm certainly not trying to start an argument about this, but when George Bush Sr. lost re-election, he was not a "sore loser" about it and was very supportive of Bill Clinton, and I would say that he was trying to "sow the seeds of positivity" in his concession speech, at least.
George H. W. Bush Concession Speech https://www.c-span.org/video/?34051-...cession-speech
"Now, there's the way I see it -- the way we see it, the country should see it, that the people have spoken and we respect the majesty of the democratic system.
I just called Governor Clinton over in Little Rock and offered my congratulations. He did run a strong campaign. I wish him well in the White House...
There is important work to be done and America must always come first. So we will get behind this new president and wish him -- wish him well."

So much batshit craziness and posturing when the congress could get off their Partisan asses and provide some relief. I am also very tired of Trump’s unhinged meanderings. He facilitated development of the vaccine, sort of. Now I wish he’d just grow up and fold up his tent and go to Florida.

Trump tweet today: "No Presidential candidate ever came even close to losing an Election who won Iowa, Florida and Ohio. I won all three, by a lot!"
That is, unless you count the 1960 election when Nixon (that's his pic in my avatar!) won all three of those states. And lost the election to JFK, 303 Electoral College votes to 219.
Setting aside the awful grammar, it's not just that Trump lies so much. It's that he lies so openly and obviously, even when it's trivially simple to prove him wrong. He just doesn't care about the truth and has no qualms about it. It's really no wonder he got crushed by Joe Biden, the man he deemed unworthy to lose to.

Why cant they just build a wall in usa like the mexico wall to divide reps from dems. The reps would get all the desert lands where there is no water and alot of snakes. And they can also have the swamp lands where there is alot of crocs. The dems would take all the other land. Then they can have each their own president. Then everyone is happy!

Meanwhile, Texas’ own solicitor general isn’t signing on to the election lawsuit raised by the Texas AG.
Texas attorney general Ken Paxton, who is leading the legal challenge, has serious personal legal troubles, leading to speculation that he’s trying to ingratiate himself with President Trump in hopes of securing a presidential pardon.
Paxton is under an FBI investigation for misuse of office to help a wealthy donor.
