It certainly is a valid question that janvier raised. With todays technical possibilities even videos can be deepfaked.

If not even Trump denies the veracity of the tape,it's definitly legit.
Now we know
Quote:
Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger (R) said in a recent interview that audio of a call in which the president pressured him to help overturn President-elect Joe Biden's victory in the state wouldn’t have leaked if the president didn't tweet “something that was false.”

In an interview with local NBC affiliate WXIA-TV released on Monday, Raffensperger said President Trump “broke privacy” when he recently tweeted about the call, audio of which has sent ripples throughout Washington in the past day since its release.
Meanwhile, Dominion Voting Systems CEO John Poulos told Axios on Monday that his company plans on suing former Trump campaign lawyer Sidney Powell imminently for defamation over her claims about its voting machines.

"Her statements have caused real damage. They're demonstrably false," Poulos said.

This will be a civil suit where Trump cannot issue a pardon.

Apparently Trump us planning to flee the US and enter the UK for Biden gets in.

One can only presume to avoid prosecution. I'm not sure how he is eligible for entry. He may be a UK citizen? (His mother was British). https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/202...ve-joe-bidens/

Ironically the Brexit Britain he was so keen to espouse is now likely to bow to any extradition request from the USA.

Well British judges have just recently blocked Assanges extradition to the US on mental health grounds. There's not a judge in the land that wouldn't accept the same defence were Trump to run it...

It'd be a particularly hilarious way for it all to end.

Paywall...

Donald Trump is not a British citizen, but he is eligible through his mother and retroactive changes to the laws on acquisition of British citizenship to apply for registration as a British citizen. However, he would have to convince the Secretary of State that he is a person of good character, and he may well have a significant challenge in doing so—no joke!

That said, I seriously doubt that Trump is ready to give up his way of life, his networks, and his notoriety in the US to live in Scotland or wherever it is thought he may reside in the UK.

If he's quick, maybe he could acquire Slovenian citizenship before Melania dumps him?

I agree, its more likely he will step down on his last day and get Pence to pardon him.

Gerald Ford pardoned Nixon for all crimes he "might have committed" during his presidency, so why not?

A Presidential pardon can only be granted for Federal crimes, not state crimes. Roll on New York and, now, Georgia.

Which would be one of his first truthful tweets. Tickets to Biden's inauguration have been limited to just 1,000, due to COVID-19 precautions, and I suspect that Biden will have asked for measures to reduce the crowd size on the National Mall for the same reason. Rain would help in that respect, although the long-range forecast looks quite good.

The English tried that but all they've done is give the Scots a foundation to build on. They can call it the anti-Trump wall but we all know what they're up to.
