| | Re: Trump or Biden .Who you got? | Quote: | | | | | This will prevent him from taking any public office, including potential, even though unlikely, run in 2024. | | | | | Not according to CNN.
"4) Even a Senate vote to remove Trump would not prohibit him from running in 2024; for the Senate to ban him from the presidency, it would have to hold an additional vote on this question."
"Neither a second House impeachment nor even a Senate vote to convict Trump and remove him from office would prevent him from running again, in 2024 or beyond.
Rather, after two-thirds of senators present voted to remove Trump, a simple majority of senators present would have to approve an additional vote to bar him from the presidency in the future.
The Senate could not skip the conviction-and-removal vote that requires two-thirds of senators and go straight to the simple-majority vote for future disqualification, Ross Garber, an impeachment and political investigations lawyer who teaches at Tulane Law School, told CNN.
There is at least some uncertainty about the disqualification issue, since no president has ever been removed from office by the Senate and only judges have been disqualified from future office. The disqualification language in the Constitution is "disqualification to hold and enjoy any Office of honor, Trust or Profit under the United States"; Garber noted that no court or Congress has ever settled the question of whether the presidency counts as an "Office of honor, Trust or Profit under the United States" from which the Senate is able to ban an impeached and convicted person. (Garber said he personally thinks the presidency does count.)" https://edition.cnn.com/2021/01/11/p...ice/index.html
Still if they think being President of the United States isn't a position of honor and trust they need their own heads examining. Though I'm pretty certain Trump's profited from it a lot.

"A big lie (German: große Lüge) is a propaganda technique used for political purpose. The expression was coined by Adolf Hitler, when he dictated his 1925 book Mein Kampf, about the use of a lie so "colossal" that no one would believe that someone "could have the impudence to distort the truth so infamously." How liars create the ‘illusion of truth’ https://www.bbc.com/future/article/2...usion-of-truth "Repeat a lie often enough and it becomes the truth”, is a law of propaganda often attributed to the Nazi Joseph Goebbels. Repetition makes a fact seem more true, regardless of whether it is or not. Understanding this effect can help you avoid falling for propaganda, says psychologist Tom Stafford." |

| | Re: Trump or Biden .Who you got? Armed protests being planned at all 50 state capitols, FBI bulletin says
An internal FBI note obtained by ABC News shows warnings of "a huge uprising."
"Starting this week and running through at least Inauguration Day, armed protests are being planned at all 50 state capitols and at the U.S. Capitol, according to an internal FBI bulletin obtained by ABC News.
The FBI has also received information in recent days on a group calling for “storming” state, local and federal government courthouses and administrative buildings in the event President Donald Trump is removed from office prior to Inauguration Day. The group is also planning to “storm” government offices in every state the day President-elect Joe Biden will be inaugurated, regardless of whether the states certified electoral votes for Biden or Trump." https://abcnews.go.com/US/armed-prot..._live_hero_hed
So these idiots are willing to defend Trump with violence even though he completely threw them under the bus after the Capitol riot?
These people are as bright as a black hole.

From the "you could not make this stuff up" department. | Quote: | | | | Chad Wolf is resigning as the acting secretary of Homeland Security, he said in a letter to the department Monday obtained by CNN.
"I am saddened to take this step, as it was my intention to serve the Department until the end of this Administration," Wolf wrote, citing ongoing litigation challenging the validity of his appointment. | | | | | He did not mention that the litigation was so far successful.
And yet more..... | Quote: | | | | President Trump on Monday declared an emergency in Washington, D.C. and ordered federal assistance to supplement efforts to prepare for President-elect Joe Biden’s inauguration later this month.
The National Guard will have at least 10,000 troops in Washington, D.C., by Saturday to boost security ahead of President-elect Joe Biden’s inauguration next week, with as many as 15,000 authorized if needed, the head of the National Guard Bureau (NGB) said Monday. | | | | | Am I really living in this world or is it some sort of alcohol induced nightmare

| | Re: Trump or Biden .Who you got? | Quote: | | | | Bill Belichick turns down Medal of Freedom from Trump
In a statement obtained by ESPN, the Patriots head coach, Bill Belichick, said while he was "flattered" by the honor, he cited the events of last week's violent riots at the U.S. Capitol as a reason for his decision to decline the award. | | | | | And in the too little too late category; | Quote: | | | | House Minority GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) told members of his GOP conference on a call Monday that the riot at the Capitol was not caused by antifa.
“McCarthy told all members on the call that he has been receiving FBI briefings and it is clear that antifa was not behind this.”
“That it was in fact right-wing extremists and QAnon adherents, and he urged members to stop spreading false information to the contrary.” | | | | | and finally | Quote: | | | | One member of law enforcement was arrested and two Capitol Police officers were suspended for their behavior during the Wednesday insurrection at the Capitol, according to Rep. Tim Ryan (D-Ohio).
One of the officers who was suspended had been shown taking a selfie with one of the rioters in video footage that went viral on social media.
The other had apparently donned a red "Make America Great Again" hat and directed the mob. | | | | | Police so blatantly taking sides is very worrying.

| | Re: Trump or Biden .Who you got? | Quote: | | | | | The definition of coup is:
"a sudden, violent, and illegal seizure of power from a government."
Pretty sure that a sitting president inciting a group of thousands of people to storm a capital building full of politicians ratifying a new president, in order to attempt to change a democratic result result to one in this favour and thus retain power, fits the description of an "attempted coup".
Of course it was a pathetic and childish attempt at a coup and doomed to fail... but the intent was there. | | | | | I didn't agree with us calling it a coup attempt, until I read this interesting article in Politico about 30min. ago: https://www.politico.com/news/magazi...na-hill-457549 | The following 4 users would like to thank Caleb for this useful post: | |

LOL... so predictable. What these dumbass Republicans who in their greed and fear-induced haze worked to support Trump in subverting Democracy apparently didn't think of was the devestating reputational impact it would have, including their oh-so-precious sources of funding https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/...s-capitol-riot
I mean seriously, if these guys have any strategic advisors at all then they need to fire them and hire some 15 year olds... because who couldn't have seen things like this coming back to bite them in the ass? Almost all companies of significance and repute who have the funds to support politics (or almost anything else for that matter) in a material way usually have VERY strict conditions for giving money to any institutions. The moment the people they donate to become the embodiment of fascism and anti-democratic then they basically an no longer give them money unless they want to have serious ethical questions raised.
It's just mind-boggling how utterly brain dead the GOP are.
