| | Re: Trump or Biden .Who you got? | Quote: | | | | | Trump has had consistent high ratings among Republicans.
Win or lose, Trumpism won't go away. | | | | | Trump is so ahem *unique* that when Trump goes, I think the republicans will go back to their old selves.
2024 would be interesting with an ancient and frankly average Joe Biden running for a second term against a generally chaotic and extreme Republican party.

Of the people that voted, Trump got 46%, meaning he got less than 25% of the total electorate.
Yes I understand the electoral congress process and how Trump actually won. But 24.38% of the electorate is so wrong ...

Tom | | | | | But that wasn’t the point, I wasn’t disputing that Trump won, by the rules. BUT! Only with the support of less than a quarter of the electorate.
If you have a vote, I’d like you to exercise it. The next President should be elected by a plurality.

- The president promised during his campaign to ‘build the next generation of roads, bridges, railways, tunnels, seaports and airports that our country deserves
- Bring back manufacturing jobs
- Build a wall and have Mexico pay for it.
- Trump insisted that he would be able to get rid of the nation’s more than $19 trillion national debt ‘over a period of eight years.’”

Wow... Fox News hosts now praising Biden (Chris Wallace is no surprise, but the others...). I think it's possible some of the powerful Republican party members who hate Trump (and I am sure there are many) are now turning their hand against him while he is at a weak ebb and trying to swing public opinion against him so that he is out of the whitehouse. Seems they think having Democrat president for a term or two is better than having Trump for another. It actually makes sense too... Trump will do far more damage in one additional term to the not only the Republican party, but the USA as a whole, than the Democrats can do in two (or maybe ten). I think we are going to see a LOT of this Republican backstabbing in the coming weeks as Trump loses his grip... | This user would like to thank Chuff for this useful post: | | This user groans at Chuff for this post: | |

Tom | | | | | I’m sure many have, perhaps not in the US. And please don’t groan my response, I’m really getting sick of your childish antics on this forum.

Tom | | | | | Turns out it has happened before, and that even 2000 and 2016 were neither plurality nor majority for the winners. But it's not very common. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United...lity_victories |

Is it just me, or do the Democrats at the top levels seem to be getting a bit overly confident again? This feels eerily like this time of year in 2016, where they simply couldn't conceive how anyone would vote for Trump.
But enough people did, and Trump still has very strong support. His supporters are enthusiastic enough to want to show up and vote. Hillary's candidacy - along with the over-confidence of the Ds - led to millions of voters simply not bothering.
Does the Biden/Harris ticket excite people enough to get them out voting early, requesting and returning a lot of absentee ballots, or even showing up on election day?

And I can only hope that that won't once again translate into many of them feeling that it's not important to vote, thinking that they "have it in the bag." But hopefully what happened in 2016 was a lesson in that regard.
I can understand the Dems' enthusiasm, though. When I see Biden and Harris speak now, I really do feel a sense of hope for the country -- that something might finally change for the good -- and it's been quite a few years since I've felt that for the US. I found it interesting that Biden was comparing this election to good versus evil and dark versus light, because that really is what it feels like to me. Hopefully the light will prevail this time around.

Like, for her arrogance, elitism, self-righteousness, ignorance and outright stupidity.
Or is she beyond such reproach, perhaps just because she's a woman?
