BTW, lets not forget, a full 192 Reps voted AGAINST impeaching Trump yesterday. CNN is trying to portray this as a bi-partisan vote, which it absolutely wasn't. Unfortunately.

| | Re: Trump or Biden .Who you got? | Quote: | | | | | I think I didn't make my point clearly enough. Since the impeachment last year, impeachment has now lost its gravity and the door has been left open for future Presidents to be impeached over any misdemeanor.
What I rather meant is how will it look, or rather how President Trump will manipulate the outcome once he is likely acquitted by the Senate? Won't he just say it exonerates of any wrong doing? This is why I'm not sure it's the best course of action (unless of course the votes are there). | | | | | Encouraging an armed mob to charge the Capitol building is hardly a "misdemeanor" unless you have a different definition of a misdemeanor than the rest of us.

It wasn't handled all that well and left the impression on many that it was a petty, partisan act. Because of that, Trump's first impeachment also seemed to be a petty, partisan act. | Quote: | | | | | BTW, lets not forget, a full 192 Reps voted AGAINST impeaching Trump yesterday. But it was by no means overwhelmingly bipartisan.
I know pundits are saying that if McConnell flips and votes to impeach Trump then it's a game changer. I can't see him doing that. I also can't see the Senate mustering up 17 Republicans (34% of the total R senators) to vote against Trump. After all, only 10 House Republicans (4.5% of the total R House members) voted against Trump.

Slick Willie may have added to that somewhat, but generally speaking memories are to shortlived for a significant effect by Bill today, not with the next OTT headline chasing yesterday's.

The American Justice system is full of plea-bargins. So let Trump ride off into the sunset and withhold submitting the articles of impeachment.
Bob's your uncle.

BTW, the number of people arrested nationwide on criminal charges related to last week’s riot at the U.S. Capitol has exceeded 100 with many more likely.

| | Re: Trump or Biden .Who you got? | Quote: | | | | | | | | | | So disturbing... Soo may people in such a complete state of denial. "We don't like the outcome of the election, therefore we refuse to accept it and are going to change the narrative on it and claim that Trump won."
I think that so much of this is a perfect reflection of the increasing problems with the warped sense of entitlement that has become embedded in American culture. And of course, the one thing that crazy people never do is question their own sanity. It's not a matter or what is or isn't true with these people. It's only a matter of what they want to be true, in their minds.
In many ways, it reminds me of these manipulative, delusional evangelists that manage to convince the members of their megachurches to give them so much of their money, with the false promise of salvation, only to make the evangelists richer. | The following 5 users would like to thank Pancakes for this useful post: | |

Trump seems to work a lot like those mega-evangelists. It's scary (in both set-ups) to see just how far the great mediaman will go to manipulate his followers by speaking out whichever version of pseudo-truth will get him the personal power, money, reassurance or glory he seeks. And even scarier when the more radical of his followers seem to stop thinking rationally (probably because giving up critical thought can feel, to some, like the easier route), merely because The Master Said So, and He's Here For Us. https://youtu.be/BfHLYIms97A
Here's an early version of God on our side.

I thought they were just taking selfies? | Quote: | | | | Federal prosecutors wrote in a new court filing that the intention of rioters who seized the Capitol last week was "to capture and assassinate elected officials." | | | | | Meanwhile, in the letter first obtained by The Steamboat Pilot and Today, officials across Colorado’s 3rd Congressional District, which GOP Congress Rep. Boebert represents, raised “deep concern about her actions leading up to and during the protests that turned into a violent deadly mob.”
Boebert has faced backlash and calls to resign over tweeting out the location of lawmakers as the Capitol was being breached.

| | | | | I was actually reading that same article you linked to right before coming to this thread. I watched the video in there of the Capitol and DC police officers describing their experiences during the riots. The one talking about begging for his life and telling them that he has kids, etc., as they were trying to get his gun from him and talking about assassinating him, and him not wanting to use his gun because he knew he was so heavily outnumbered. |
