In that link to the soldier reading Atlas Shrugged, it shows a man in camouflage with a US Army patch. So not a national guardsman. Fake News.

Parler, a social media website and app popular with the American far-right, has partially returned online with the help of a Russian-owned technology company, DDoS-Guard. Users are still unable to comment or post.

Parler critics said it was a potential security risk for it to depend on a Russian company, as well as an odd choice for a site popular with self-described patriots.

Parler, which disclosed it has over 12 million users, sued Amazon last Monday after the e-commerce giant and cloud services provider cut off service.
It is still a very small Twitter alternative when you consider Trump had over 80 million Twitter followers.

On a side note, what's the problem with someone reading Atlas Shrugged? Philosophy aside, I LOVED both Atlas Shrugged as well as The Fountainhead.

The latest polls are showing Biden's favourability is in the mid 60s while Trump's is in the mid-thirties.

These are bigly post-election changes

Re: Trump or Biden .Who you got?

Quote:
A Democratic House member, Rep. Steve Cohen (D-Tenn.), says that he and a colleague saw first-term Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) give a “large” group tour of the Capitol days ahead of the Jan. 6 riot that left five people dead.

Democrats have called for investigations into whether GOP lawmakers may have given tours to future rioters,
Rep. Lauren Boebert was temporarily banned from Twitter last week for election misinformation.

Surprise of the day, the growing rift between Mitch McConnell and Trump.
Quote:
Outgoing Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) on Tuesday accused President Trump of provoking the violent crowd that stormed the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6.

“The last time the Senate convened, we had just reclaimed the Capitol from violent criminals who tried to stop Congress from doing our duty.
The mob was fed lies.
They were provoked by the president and other powerful people,” McConnell said on the Senate floor, marking the first convening of the full Senate since the attack.
And to the same theme
Quote:
The first conspiracy charge has been filed by authorities investigating the Capitol riots, against an apparent leader of the paramilitary group the Oath Keepers.
Finally, for anybody wondering how Trump will hand over the "nuclear football" to Biden when they will not meet tomorrow, it seems there are at least four such "nuclear footballs"; so one will be held in the Capitol before the event.

As I understood it, at Obama's request, Trump inherited about 13 million followers from Obama. That would still mean that 67 million newcomers joined Trump as followers. Just as for those who followed Obama, tt least some of those who joined Trump will have done so to know what he was writing, and not necessarily because they agreed with him.

Twitter has decided to let Biden start with a clean slate, at zero.

Do you actually think the military has real codes in the ‘footballs’ that accompany whichever President is in power? I can understand in times of Crisis (such as the Cuban Missile crisis) but not today. Missiles need to be fuelled, aimed and then launched.

Makes great press I suppose but is silly beyond belief.

White males without a college degree were and are Trump's base. They are a major part of the mid-30 you are referring to.

I know quite a few non-white females in their 20s who are Trump supporters, you you are spouting nonsense.

And ALL trump supporters that I know are college educated (which means nothing in the US or most countries)

It is claimed eight to ten of the US Ohio-class submarines are deployed at any one time carrying an estimated total of 720 nuclear warheads. The warheads are delivered by the Trident II D5 SLBM that is a three-stage, solid-fuel, inertially-guided missile with a range of 4,000 nautical miles.

Yabut, how do you communicate with a submarine when it is hiding at depth, to tell them where to point the damn things and when to launch them. I know they have some ultra low frequency signals that can signal them, but it isn’t communication, its more like hitting them with a hammer.

A nice fiction that’d been maintained since the 60s. And I seriously doubt the military giving that much power to someone with heel spurs.

With all due respect to your personal knowledge of acquaintances’ voting trends, my guess is that they don’t represent the US as a whole.

As it turns out, I know quite a few Trump supporters who are not college educated.

From the CNN exit poll

https://edition.cnn.com/election/202...tional-results

89% of black voters 18-29 voted for Biden

48% of white voters with a college degree voted for Trump, as did 67% of white voters without a college degree.

That would disagree with your observations.

Actually, it is true that Trump's support base and those who voted for him are predominantly non-college educated whites (look it up). They made up a huge percentage of the people who voted for Trump in 2016:

https://www.pewresearch.org/politics...idated-voters/

"Overall, whites with a four-year college degree or more education made up 30% of all validated voters. Among these voters, far more (55%) said they voted for Clinton than for Trump (38%). Among the much larger group of white voters who had not completed college (44% of all voters), Trump won by more than two-to-one (64% to 28%)."

https://www.npr.org/2020/09/03/90743...nue-to-decline
"Almost two-thirds of whites without a college degree voted for Trump in 2016..."

Looks like it's a bit of a similar scenario in 2020. College-educated versus non-college educated seems to be one of the biggest divides in terms of voter demographics.
